Neobasic has added a new developer section! It should concentrate on other things programmers need in order to make quality software. This includes information and downloads on mods, midis, graphics programs and much more.... It will be open in a few days. I will keep you informed.
Posted by magus on Thursday, August 31, 2000.
Yesterday almost all day the server was down and we were unable to get on to submit news. This should not happen again. Also Future Software was down since it was on the same server.

NB-Productions.. I think this site is new. Not quite sure. Anyway check it out! It seems like they need visitors from what the owner posted in the qb45.com forum.
Posted by magus on Tuesday, August 29, 2000.
In a few days, the visitors at Future Software (qb45.com) will be able to leave a comment and rating on each file. The ratings and comments can be read by everybody.

Toshi has released a screen shot of her engine here. She will be adding cones and polygons and other stuff soon. The screenshot shows the smooth texture mapping on spheres.

This was submitted by GbGames:
Will the fact that school is starting up for a lot of people cause the QBasic community to falter a little? A lot of people won't be able to update their sites, program their games, and sleep because activities at school will take up the bulk of their time. Some webmasters have agreed to promise at least a weekly update, most likely on Saturdays or Sundays.
Those that promise daily updates will be challenged by the fact that summer will soon be over. Hopefully school won't be a huge obstacle to overcome.

The new QB Portal has done an interview with Jordan Chamid or Future Software. I just had to meation it because of these lines:
QB Portal: What's your favourite site on the 'net?
Jorden: Qbasicnews.com is the best new site I've seen. I still visit .. blah blah blah.
Anyway check out the new QB Portal! or straight to the interview here.

Eclipzer has released a tutorial on how to get faster rotations with 3d objects here. It covers 9-mul rotations, but also describes the 7-mul and 6-mul rotation methods. The article is heavily math oriented, though it uses quite a bit of comments and I take things step by step. Anyway, if anyone's interested in getting some more speed out of 3D rotations go check it.

I had a chance to talk with pete yesterday on icq and he said that he never even knew the site was offline because he has not been on the internet for 2 months. He asked two other people to upload it and he guesses they never got around to it. weird.. I will keep you informed.

Birth of qbasic news.. again
The Everos language is going to be the most powerful BASIC language on this planet!! Yep!! It'll be expandable with as many libraries as you can throw at it... you'll have full access to memory, including a revolutionary way of storing your variables... never seen in other BASIC languages...!
It's all going good so far. It is gonna have libraries such as SVGA, Sprite, layers (hee hee), Turbo 3D, Dialogue Interface, etc. I can't give away much more information, but I promise it is gonna be damn good!!
Give me some comments, anything you wanna see in it? Tell me, I'll try my best to implement it... Click here to email me (steve).

I recieved this in response to my post below for all who have been wondering when the next issue of Qb Cult Magazine is coming out.
About QBCM not coming is that EvilBeaver hasn't been around for a month+ cause I am in Blaklight and he hasn't been to our private discussion board for a while. The QBCM url works fine here. I think it should be up soon.

Not long ago, Alfa.FLA version 2.0a BETA was released. Unfortunately, it is pretty big, cannot be compiled, and we're not sure if it works with Future.Library v3.5. But Alfa.FLA is still being developed, and thanks to the new improved system, compiling will be no problem - and nor will memory!
The new Alfa.FLA system uses XMS memory to its full advantage, allowing the use of scripts in a multi-tasking environment. And along with that, it still has the great preferability you'd expect from Alfa.FLA. Source: Alfaware

The Master-Creating homepage is down while the webmaster re-designs it. I think it will take a long time since the page is in two langauges. Well we are just going to have to wait and see.

The Qb Inquirer is a really great page. Not just for the funny articles but they update so often not like other qbasic sotes. So I suggest checking it out if you have not already. A few things have changed there yesterday. One they redesigned the page it looks pretty cool and two 3 articles were added. Check Them out.
Yesterday at about 5:00 PM EST I had a chance to have a interview with the owner Skarab. You can read it from our articles section here.

I discovered a big security hole in NeoBASIC's NMP system which allowed anyone to mess with the ratings of each file. Marcade has been notified of this bug and hopefully fix it soon(if he hasn't already). The description of this hole will not be put up for obvious reasons. To see an example, check out this example page.

Our link review section has been added. It used to belong to Future Software but they could not keep updating it so I took over =) You can reach it here or just find it in the side bar.
Program review section is going to change a little when it comes out. (Next Week). Its being done by a friend of mine and is going to be a Role Playing Game Review only. This is because he only likes RPG's and would give everything else a bombing score. So this should be interesting when it comes out.
Posted by magus on Wednesday, August 16, 2000.
Few new things added the V Planet! Qb Magazine. One is another article on the qbasic expo. another is a few other articles that I really don't want to get into so you can goto the site to see them. Also they put a little spotlight on our Game Top 100 telling people they should join. The people at V Planet! are great =) Sometime today I will be adding them to our affiliate section on the side.
Also on another note webmasters just remember to add your sites to the Qbasic Top 100! Its growing pretty good considering it just opened!
Posted by magus on Wednesday, August 16, 2000.
Graphite Technologies, that have 3 members now, has moved to a better server. In about a week the new site will be finished. And a VERY-BIG project is also coming... worth the wait.

Jordan of Future Software announces on 08/16/00 - 03:53:22 that they will not be changing there name. This is because he never got any positive comments about changing it. So you won't see a Generation X Programming group anymore =)
Posted by magus on Wednesday, August 16, 2000.
Theres five new articles on the Qb Inquirer. An interview and then some pointless rants. Click here to check them out.
Posted by magus on Wednesday, August 16, 2000.
Few things happening with Future Software. First Jordan is thinking of changing the name to Generation X Programming. He wants all of your opinions! So please goto the discussion on it here and post if you think they should change names or not!
Also I agreed to take over Future Softwares Site Reviews. So tommarow I will add the 46 reviews to this site and then you can come to me for reviews instead of Jordan. He got tired of doing them.

Chris Rennie and Steve have been working hard on the new version of there qbasic for windows program, which allows the use of multiple screens, windows, external programs (using the Everos language - easier than Qbasic), customly sized textures, and a lot lot more...
Also in the new version are bitmap fonts, of any height for the set of characters, and any width for each character. Sounds good? I hope so... the Arial font is built in to the system...
Screen shots are not yet available, but as soon as they are I will be sending them out to people and they'll be available on the website. If you want some snapshots, please email me...

Theres a new article section at Neobasic dedicated the the Qbasic Expo 2000. As of right now all they have is a interview with the creator Qbshire. Click here to check it out.

Well I am almost finished a script to add articles, reviews and interviews so they should come very soon. Maybe tommarow or the next day. I already have two people working day and night writing them to get them ready for the release of these sections.

HyperRealistic Games has started a new site on qbrpgs.com. It's a site devoted to helping QB RPG programmers out in creating (and finally finishing) their own RPGs. Theres files, tutorials, and a new qbasic rpg top 50. Which really copied my idea since I once owned one with the same name (Magus)! Anyway check them out.
Posted by magus on Monday, August 14, 2000.
Thats right. Future Software has finally passed the 1000 mark in amount of files. It was already the most files on any qb site but they still seem to keep adding more and finally passing 1000. Congradulations qb45.com!

The 2000 QB Expo, to many's dismay, has not been released to the public yet. However, the developers have had a chance to preview the event. Opinions were mixed. Some liked the disorganization and some didn't. Personally, I think it's the best V!Planet could've done to recreate the 'expo' feeling. If it was just a list of links, then it would be just like any other website. QBShire says the Expo is far from being finished but it definitely looks like an event to look forward to. So give V!Planet a break and let them have a chance to complete it. It isn't easy to run a website of that magnitude.

Neobasics site of the month has been decided. They will be revealed soon! I hope its qbasic news!
Posted by magus on Sunday, August 13, 2000.
The Qb Inquirer Magazine has added two new articles. Ones an interview the others just a pile of news. Qbasic News is meationed in that one and me being reincarnated into a pigeon. I wonder how they found out!
Posted by magus on Sunday, August 13, 2000.
Webmasters don't forget to add your site to the new qbasic top 100! You won't regret it because this one will never be taken offline due to using illegal scripts. Thats why elite qbasic top 50, quickbasic top 100 and many others went under.
If anybody is interested in doing a weekly or monthly column on qbasic please email me. I want to get a few of those going for this site.

Budfish Software has changed its address from http://lightning.prohosting.com/~budfish/ to simply http://budfish.8m.com so its much shorter and easier to remember. So if you have it bookmarked you should change it to the new address.
Posted by magus on Sunday, August 13, 2000.
Qb Inquirer Magazine has added thier 37th article called "The QB gene: Does it exist?", I havent had time to read it yet but the Qb Inquirer always has some great articles so I will make some time to.

KeithKosh has started a new platform game, Robot Robbery, a tile-by-tile scrolling game with a fairly fast engine. (No libraries) Plans for the future include 25 levels through 5 worlds, a couple of mini-bosses, and of course a final end boss. There is a very early demo version availible

As of right now there are a few job openings available since I don't think I can successfully do a big website by myself. I need about 2 people to help getting and posting news whenever possible. Also I need some program and link reviewers. If you are interested in either of these please email me at webmaster@qbasicnews.com. Thanks
Posted by magus on Friday, August 11, 2000.
Finally after all this time Qbasic / Quickbasic News is back online and back to being owned by Magus. Here's a brief summary of how it ended last time:
Ampleworks, my host noticed this site was getting popular so he completely took over giving me no word in the matter. Jeffrey (Ampleworks) updated the first day and never again leaving the site get worse and worse. I finally got hold of an inside person (Identity unknown) who got me a copy of all the files and erased them off the server afterwards. Now we see this here with a new design!
Yes, It was Ampleworks that gave future software a big hassle with his site also. So never trust him.
