some users have stars near their personal text in all their posts. how come?
The gold stars are just for show, the amount of them depends what title they have which is based on the amount of posts. The red stars show administrators.
Does that mean that when i have made heaps of posts i will get stars?

Yes, I've been making posts here and there since '05 and I don't have a huge amount or anything, but more active members have quite a lot. It's just kind of a simple indicator used on most forums to show which posters are more experience in the community.
i meant to say can you get more than 5 stars?
Nah, 5 is the maximum.
if 5 stars is the max what name (new member, ancient QBer, Guru) means you have been a member the longest?
Thoose names changes as you post.
They are only a rough guide, if someone like Galleon came to this site he would not get a star. Are all the people here with stars of a higher ranking than Galleon in the QB community. This is only one example and I apologise  to all those brilliant programmers that I have left out. lol

Yep, 5 stars is the set max.  The name descriptions are ranks, or titles which members earn, and they change as the members post count increases. Like the stars. Currently, the highest title using words is 'na_th_an'. After that is special symbols.

These are just a couple of things that make forums more insteresting & fun.
