of course I know that it is people who do kill people. My point is just that there are just too many guns in your country. I bet that maybe 70% or more of your neightbours have one. The best proof is that I don't know what is a AK%(·/·(47830 or whatever it is called. In fact, I've never seen a gun out of a policemen "cartridge" (that belt where they hang it up). Of course you have to pass some test to get a gun. The problem is not the gun selling, it is the gun buying. People in Spain don't buy guns 'cause they don't need'em. People in the US do buy guns, 'cause they feel they need them just 'cause everyone has one and everyone can potentially use one. Of course there are guns and rifles in Spain, but not in such proportion.
Never, never try to convince me that guns are OK, 'cause they are just a bad invention. It seems that human race has been taken to Earth just to build destruction devices. We are the best on that. But that doesn't take appart the fact that we are intelligent enough to know that they are "bad things". I do believe that there is "bad" and "good" therms. And guns are not good at all. They kill.
Agreed. And I don't make up stats, FYI Plasma. We have, say 20 gun killings a year. Let's do the math: 20 killings / 4,000,000 people = 1/200,000 people will die a year from gunshots. In america, 1 person ever 30 seconds, and that's in a country with 250,000,000 people, and that fact is undisputable, many studies have been done that get that result.
I do not own any guns. The only people I know who own guns have hunting rifles, which is what they use them for. They did not buy them because "they feel they need them just 'cause everyone has one and everyone can potentially use one." (You really should stop making assumptions about what you think life is like over here.)
And as for Oracle, well you just made up another "fact". There are between 30,000 and 40,000 people killed each year in the US from guns. (This is ALL deaths, including suicides.) There are 365 days * 24 hours * 60 minutes * 60 seconds = 31,536,000 seconds in a year. 31,536,000 / 40,000 = every 788 seconds someone is killed, not 30 seconds.

New Zealand has 2.38 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people. With a population of 4,000,000 people, that's 95 deaths caused by guns each year, not 20.
Look at it this way. The US has 14.24 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people, which is almost 6 times more than NZ's 2.38. However, 22% of the households in NZ have guns, while 39% of the households in the US have guns. So proportionally, the US only has 1.8 times more guns than NZ, while the gun-related deaths are 6 times more. It should be fairly clear that the guns aren't responsible; the people are.
And I lived in Phoenix for 5 years. I did not own a gun then, nor did I know anyone who did. So I don't see what your point is.

I live in the city, I wish I didn't... Like plasma said, All the people that own guns here (most anyways) use them as hunting rifles... old, of Russian origin it was used in a bad incedent in California, they are illegal to own, allong with any automatic rifle. Oh, and Oracle murders here are FRONT PAGE news!!!!!!! And I rarely see them... but I live in a city of under 40,000... which is definately known for its hunting
