Why when you preview a message do you not really see what the final format will be after you submit it?

It only displays the message, not the stuff that is taken for granted, like your name, avatar, post count etc. Or does something else happen to your posts?

Yes, sometimes it re-formats the text slightly, changing the number of words on a line for example.
