I'm using bwsb to run mods and it claims there's no interference with the program, but it makes my scroller a bit choppy, less in dos but still noticeable. It's not really that bad, but better if it wasn't there. I'm running it on a pentium 133. If I use a faster computer, will that eliminate it? I haven't tested ds4qb but I hear great things about it from Adigun. I also hear you need Windows to run it. Is that true? And is there any interference with the program? Has anybody experienced anything like this? Thanks for the advice.
DS4QB uses a windows driver to play sound. So you do need windows. I haven't had any experience with BWSB though... are you absolutely sure that it's the sound that is screwing it up? (try without sound). And you can send it to me if you want, I'm on a 1100mHz so you can see whether speed makes a difference.
DS4QB(++) uses DirectX's DirectSound module. So you indeed need Windows for it. However, if you're using Win2000 or WinXP or WinNT, DS4QB uses the harddisk to communicate between the slave, so you'll have so disk reading/writing during your game => choppy.

BWSB... tja, I don't know what causes your problem, I've never had any problem with BWSB and with it's speed. Perhaps you have slow memory access times? Or did you load the module in conventional memory?
maybe try qbmidi?
Oracle: Yeah I tried without sound and no choppyness at all, so it's bwsb causing it.

Neo: Yeah, it could be the speed of my computer affecting it. I'm I'm loading the modules in EMS. I'm running a pentium 133. I'll try it on my buddie's 800Mhz. Thanks everyone

Barok: I'm not too fond of midi, but thanks for suggesting it.
Don't forget UGL's mod player..
Really? Never heard of it. How is it? :bounce:
