Neither of them have any trouble running under XP.
I'd recommend quickbasic 4.5 over qbasic. Version 7.1 is nice, but it displays an annoying warning that it wasn't designed for Windows NT.
Also, I think ver. 4.5 is a little faster than 7.1.

But keep in mind: FFIX is useless for Integers...it's only for Floats
