Why headbang when you can play?

Metal is not music. Metal is people pounding crap into their ears because they think they are rebellious, and they want to hear someone be angry at their parents. It was not good music in the 80s, it is not good music now, at its resurgence. The wonderful, melodious rock of the nineties is gone, I guess, and it's so damn hard to give that up...

I mostly agree. Except "wonderful" rock is the stuff of the 60s and 70s imo...

Rock was great in the 60, and the 70. Then Iron Maiden... Every song is the same. The 80s and their heavy metal. Then the 90s and "hey, add [whatever] to metal and you have a new style" and it keeps being but the same. But hey, if you like it, that's great!. I am more for the alternative/indie/grunge/noise stuff. I prefer Sonic Youth

Well, gotta say old school rock (60/70) rocks. Metallica? Teh. Nate, right there with u on ..."progressive music". I also like alternative stuff like Powderfinger, RHCP, Rage,. Then theres the odd music like Tool, A Perfect Circle.

I do however like In Flames. And some Maiden stuff.

And I love listening to guitar gods playing their funky shit. Hendrix, Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen (however slightly overrated) etc.





God I wish I could see Led Zeppelin live...

I like Eminem, Peal Jam and some "local" Swedish groups.

Back to subject: When I listen to metal I listen to Otep (only when I lift weights) :wink:

The only heavy that I like are some cool hymns by Gamma Ray. Land of the Free is a neat album.

The music's good, but when the guy starts yelling it sounds like crap. That's what I don't like about metal...singing sounds so much better
