...is a compo which I am opening to the general public, not only in response to AAP's suffocated compo, but also because I've been meaning to do this ever since I rejoined the scene. The compo opens Samhain night and lasts until Walpurgisnacht. I've set up the official rules here:

I will build a proper site for it within the next couple of days (probably tonight, since all I have to do tonight is study for a MNG201 midterm). I'll likely add more genres over the next couple of days, and announce the prizes as well (they will be small...no big prizes like RPG GOLD COMPO 2004).

Could you please enlighten me on these terms: Samhain night and Walpurgisnacht?

I think nobody has replied to poor Adi's posts for his compo

Certainly Samhain night is October 31st, and Walpurgisnacht is April 30th. Basically, it is the Celtic New Year, and then the end of the first half of the year, or six months' time. I am going to upload the revised version of the site in a couple of hours, it contains some other important dates but one of them I need to find out when exactly it will be in 2004. All of these days can be found on Google.

And I highly doubt many will enter AAP's compo due to his set of stranglation-inducing rules.

Suffocated, MOST ABSOLUTELY NO. LOOK, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS OR RIGHT AT ALL to even attempt to negatively criticize my compo in any way whatsoever. I mean, you are completely and even __blatantly__ fooling yourself BIG-TIME by writing that, man. I am not against anybody (or you, for that matter), and I am **NOT** about to start any wars or even compete with you at all, so do not even push it, please. !! About what I have **clearly** said from my last recent post within my compo, I meant EVERY WORD that I said 100%. Bottom line. I have every right to voice my opinion in whatever manner, shape, or form I choose because the last time I checked...this is the United States Of America and my freedom of speech is protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution Of The United States Of America. Fooling myself? No. YOU are fooling yourself by thinking that your blatant suffocation of people's rights are legitimate "rules". And I have no need to compete with you...I was planning SHRINE OF EXCELLENCE since awhile ago, I was just waiting for a time when the scene was ready for it. Thanks to your religion-soaked "rules", it looks like this is the time.

Oh and I might also point out that under the United Nations, I also have the right to free speech. Might I also mention that freedom of religion is protected by both the US Constitution AND the UN, to which you have *blatantly* insulted by calling "unholy". And yes...I am going to jump down your throat for insulting my religion, and I am vicious about it.

I'm not against you either. But don't cross that line or you WILL regret it. Right now, you're walking on EXTREMELY thin ice with me and I HIGHLY advise you to cool it before you get yourself caught up in a war which you stand no chance of winning.

I would strongly advise you both to calm down and let it slide. "Wars" over religion will not be tolerated on this forum (for obvious and good reasons).

I want to thank you for telling me to calm down. I mean, I was *only* trying to point out in both my QB gala and my official rules that I was not even talking about religion or Christianity at all. I was talking about getting real and being encouraged and inspired to create something original and even positive in QuickBASIC. That is all, period. I never intended on doing anything wrong, and I am not gonna even get into any so-called “religious” wars myself, so you are pretty much correct, right there. That is all I came to say to you and all else within the QB45/QB71 community. Please forgive me. :*) !

AAP, I too agree with seph. Please reduce the amount of decorations on your posts. I am happy that you are working for the cause of QB. And some people like it simple. Like me =)

Hmm maybe I missed it but when does the compo start?

Also - AAP i must be honest your comments do get a bit offending at times, even if you dont mean it, but nothing hard.
