To all of the QB45/QB71 community:

Hello. Wink All I was doing tonight was to maintain some proper order within my series of threads pertaining to my current compo called the “QuickBASIC Caliber Programming Compo (Summer & Autumn 2003)”, while the *whole* darned time, I was _only_ preparing them in the “Challenges” section of the QBasicNews.com forums about all nine (9) of the categories of my compo (including the first-ever original in QB compo history: Mode-7 Programming in QB using RelLib!! Big Grin !) as an UTTER encouragement and blessing to people like you to add **NEW AND UNCHARTED** originality like it was never even done before in QuickBASIC programming at all, all because I love you guys so much, *whether* I even feel like doing so at all or not. ;*) !!! There, from earlier tonight up to around the end of Tuesday, October 28, 2003, were some insults and putdowns and mockeries concerning my Official Rules (and even my compo, as well) that *literally* hurt me _deeply_ ( Cry !! ), and for those causing the hurt, please stop it completely, ‘cause you are inflicting hell and pain on yourselves by doing that. That is why I encourage you to put a grinding, permanent halt to it *FOR GOOD*, for the benefit of us all. Smile ! If you cannot do it for my sake, at least do it for somebody else’s sake, but whatever it takes, please do so anyway. You got that? Big Grin

Look please, the whole time — within both my Official Rules and my gala itself — I was *never* even talking about religion or Christianity at all. I was **really** talking about ENHANCING originality and creativity in QB games and projects, and that is what the “QuickBASIC Caliber Programming Compo” is rather for. To inspire people. And to extend creativity in a **MOST** positive way. That is just that. Cool !

And that is the *final* mesage that I will write for this Tuesday, October 28, 2003 EST. I will hopefully see you again. Tomorrow. Smile !

With all due respect, Adigun, I fail to see how many of your rules, especially the ones that accuse people of blasphemy, will encourage creativity and positivity in games created in QB. I look at Quest for a King, a game I've worked on for a long time which has been called quite creative by many different people, and see it would be thoroughly disqualified for many, many reasons cited in your rules, some of which are quite constricting to those who would like to have a deep story. Is the senseless murder of a paladin which leaves the holy cloud sword(A japanese relic which used to represent an emporers bloodline) in the hands of a knight who is destined to go mad not creative? Sure it is, but according to your rules, it's not just disqualified, it's sinful.

Personally, I recommend you take some of the suggestions by the people critisizing the rules so you might actually have some people willing to sign up for this contest, unlike the last, which you were forced to cancel due to lack of applicants. People want to enter a new contest dedicated to creativity, but many aren't going to stand for one which seems too bogged down in ensuring none of the entries are sinful/inappropriate for children/fun.

I hope you understand I'm not attacking you, I'm just letting you know that the path you're on isn't the path of least resistance.
By the way...this "Mode-7" that everyone seems to babble on about, not having any clue as to what it means outside of "rotation and scaling"...JUMPING JESUS ON A POGO STICK ALREADY, IT'S NOT CALLED MODE 7, IT'S CALLED SPRITE ROTATION AND SCALING! SHEESH!

Mode 7 is a special display mode on the SNES hardware that allows for sprite rotation and scaling using special hardware blitters. PLEASE stop referring to "sprite rotation and scaling" in QB or any other languages as MODE 7. It is an insult to those of us who actually program on the SNES, first of all, and second of all, it's just plain wrong.

So knock it off already!

And no...I will never shut up. Tongue
To all of you:

Welcome to you for this Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I have been through _QUITE_ a lot this week, but thank God that He is already empowering me to just plain press onward! Big Grin ! And so, without further adieu at all, YES, I will **definitely** continue to work on a series of threads concerning about all nine (9) categories on my QB gala in the “Challenges” section of this VERY forum. And believe me, wonderful ladies and gentlemen, I WILL FINISH IT WITH JOY, too, all for your splendid sakes!! ;*) !!

Do watch for them to approach you in the coming days, okay please?

Thank you all. :king:

PROMISING YOU SOMETHING BIG THIS WEEK,

Nek: Before lambasting DL Rellib. I used the word because its what the C tutorial used. so that's what I named it. And its not just scaling. It's pseudo-3d planar bitmap view.
Yes, what I wanted to say. I mean, something like that.

Nek, just calm down a bit. I mean, ignore the compo if you dislike it. I think Adigun will get the message eventualy.
Umm...dudes...my message was posted days ago. Get with the program Smile
