I am sure everyone has heard about the 12 year old girl that was sued by the RIAA back in Octuber, plus the numerous other lawsuits that the RIAA has decided to implement. I have set up this poll in order to measure the opinions of people worldwide. Please vote, and if you so desire, post an opinion as well.

Thank you. Smile
Well, the second option is already in place in terms of Apple's Itunes, and we've just had our first site set up in NZ that lets you download singles for a dollar, so I think that there's no need to illegally download music, thus I think the RIAA is correct to sue (although not really for so much money....)
Quote:Sue until filesharing is stopped.

That's like saying Microsoft is gonna keep patching their programs until they don't have any more bugs.

How can I choose "none of the above"? Wink

What they should do is cut the prices.

Plasma: I had not laughed so hard in a long time. Thank you for that hilarious clip. Big Grin

na_th_an: I had included a "Let each artist fend for themselves" option, but I do not understand why it did not show up.

Personally I believe the RIAA has too much power, even more so than the police. For example, they spy on your computer, make a list of what you have on your hard drive, and then ask the court for a subpeona. This would be the equivant of a police officer trespassing on your property, peeking through your windows and doors and opening them to look inside, and then asking for the search warrant. The most frightening thing is that the RIAA is not a government agency, but rather a trade group, which can invade and intrude more than a law enforcement officer. I do not know about everyone else, but I believe that this is a bit scary.
It's ridiculous how much power and authority these lecherous bastards are attempting to gain. This is a precursor to the TCPA, in my opinion...
I'm sure they're invading your computer because they believe you've downloaded copywrited music illegally, and if the police presented that much info to a judge they'd get a search warrant.

I'm very uninformed on the whole issue, because frankly I don't download music illegally. So, give me some background, and tell me why they shouldn't be allowed to punnish you for breaking the law.
