exe/source, to run source just add dqb
I noticed gray lines overlapping the character (between tiles), but other than that no obvious glitches - it ran fine. Can't wait 'till it has collision detection and everything Smile

city.exe: varied from 32 (middle of map) to 72 (far north - less to render I guess) fps
grass.exe: 72 fps

AMD Athlon XP 1600+
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
Windows XP Pro

I can try to make a screenshot to show you what I mean about the grey lines if you want.
thanks, nah thats ok, that grey line is a marker left over from the map editor that shows you which tile you're editing >) but definetly thanks

question though... was the movement close to as smooth when it was at 72fps as it was at 32?
Sorta. It sped up when there was more black space on the screen in the city.

grass.exe was consistantly smooth.
hey, syn9, did ZeroG 2 change its name to Zero GTZ??? And what happended to that awesome looking rpg (i forgot what it was called) that you were making, with all the bone animations and everything? Btw, that demo is looking pretty cool, although I take it that you will be using animated sprites in the final thing?
thanks, yea my current build already has the animated sprite system from vampira. zero g 2 will be zero gtz, i'm trying to get all the info about each project im working on at http://syn9.rpgdx.net

as for oblivion, the 3d engine was too slow and bulky, and i wasnt able to find a way to make it faster, so im going to make a 2d engine for it
Whoa, I just noticed this post existed. WOW, tha is a fantastic demo. It makes my work look like crap. Now I'm going to cry lightly to myself in a corner.
Wow! Neato!

grass.exe: 24FPS in the middle, spikes to 35FPS when in a corner. Still looked smooth enough.

city.exe 15FPS in the middle, would spike as high as 35FPS in a corner. Looked a little choppy at 15FPS.

You've got a few drawing-order problems, but it's pretty neat all the same Smile
syn9, you should REALLY put out some tutorials on how you do this amazing stuff.
city gave me 8fps, but i think it was faster than that! beautiful! you give hope to dying qbasic programmers
