Smilies suck. I like my text smilies =P
Real programmers don't say "progger".
and mostly real programmers use the lynx text browser so they don't have to bother whether to deactivate smilies or not.

Man, I dont even have a monitor. I just listen to the noises coming from the modem and form a mental picture of the webpage from that ;-)

I prefer text smilies (cause Im a slrn/lynx/usenet geek), but I also like smilies in moderation. I really dislike the bouncing and rolling smilies and phrases such as ROTFLOL, its quite hard to imagine someone reading something on the internet and then literally rolling around on the floor clutching their sides and laughing hysterically.
