for closing my poll. I was attempting to measure the community's reaction to not only that issue, but to the war in Iraq in general. I have posted this poll on forums of other genres in order to present a complete picture of how people from around the world, of different ages and backgrouds feel and present this to the various communities for which I write. Thank you for bringing these efforts to an abrupt halt and intervining in an issue that was quite in control, much alive and helping the community express its opinions and stand up for its various beliefs. Although this may be a Qbasic forum, it has a general section. And these people are not robotic programmers, but humans who think and feel. Thank you for cutting off their ability to express their freedom of speech. It is always richly appreciated.

With all due respect eQuuskia...you are likely wasting your breath. You are addressing one who believes themselves to be a dictator with absolute control who has no interest in listening to the concerns of the general public. In his own words... "this is not a democracy, this is a dictatorship, and if you don't like it you can leave".

I thought he misused his powers to shutup SJZero. He pushed him over the edge and then when he retaliated he locked the thread.

Its unfortunate that you don't seem to understand. I personally didn't want far flung topics here. I even discussed closing the general section, but Oracle thought it was a bad idea. This, as said above, is a QB site; its not a political site. As shown in other topics/posts many times there is little in common with other posters than QB so sticking to QB discussion is preferred.

The caption of the General forum says, and I quote:

I think you are reading it too literally, or I did not spell it out more clearly. The topics that can be posted here are those that are of interest to most of the people here that are posting in the other sections. It was never the intention of increasing the community size.

Did I miss something? When did I mention community size in my post?

wildcard...that topic WAS of interest to many people. Considering it didn't take long for it to become a hot tpoic, I'd say it was of much interest to people and it sparked quite an interesting debate.

Besides it was in the general forum and nobody complained that it was hurting anyone. So IMHO it didnt deserve to be locked.
