Anyone know how to make use of the phpBB cookie? I'm looking through the sourcecode for the forum and it's not very umm...how you say...clear. Smile It *looks* like it matches a certain piece of the cookie data against the database, but...?

In any event, what I'd like to do is figure out how to use the phpBB cookie to get the name of whoever might be logged in. This will be done via PHP. Any leads? Thanks in advance. Big Grin
Cookies are just a set of variables. True, you can store a data structure, but just peek at the data, and see if one of the variables holds the users' id number or name.

It might just hold a session variable, though. In that case I'm not sure what you can do.

* toonski84 wishes he had his computer with its copy of phpbb...
mmm....cookies! BTW I was just wondering what is the difference between a normal cookie and a phpBB cookie?
The normal ones are low fat. The PhpBB ones are super rich, creamy and have extra large choco chips in them. I wouldnt reccomend them if you have a coronary problem.
OK...aetherfox had it all figured out. Thanks anyways guys. Big Grin

btw...the phpBB cookie is chocolate chip, normal cookies are just nasty old oatmeal cookies with raisins. Eww.
wtf? Why are you all kidding around. I asked a serious question.
TBBQ: PHPBB cookies are normal cookies. They have info related to PHPBB. Adosorken was asking about them 'cause he and aetherfox were portaling it to build the whole site. There is nothing special about PHPBB cookies.
Thanx for clearing that up =)
