I'm looking to have a website based on one of these (or something else if recommended) and i was wondering what you guys thought of these.

Any feedback would be great
Heh heh... I make my own CMS's Wink

Start with a base of something (like phpBB, PowerBoard), add some php knowledge and stir Wink
I don't really have php knowledge. I just want something very interactive and functional. With easily accessed news updates and such. But I don't want to code the news each time, i'd rather just update it. (and I don't want to use a phpbb forum :normal: )

not to be picky...
What do you mean by "code the news"???

Anyway I get your point.

Well, that's kind of like saying "I want to build a 3D shooter, but...What does 'programming' mean?".
My suggestion: Learn php! It's great. Smile
Well, you can use a news feeder. They are usually easy to set up and most don't even need a database. I'm using one in a site I own with my friends and it works absolutely great Smile.
I know perl (basics) and i started (then stopped) with php and I know html. But I just wanted something like phpnuke and postnuke do.

My code gets the news automatically from forums I choose Tongue
phpbb_fetch_all works wonders for those of us who're not 100% familiar with how phpbb works Wink

You got a nice advantage, being a regular part of phpbb's dev Big Grin
Why don't you want to work with phpBB???

It's easy to make a CMS with it. Just learn some PHP and MySQL (by books or internet) and then take a look at the source code of phpBB to understand it better.
That's what I did: http://www.q-tech.de.vu
Or another on (not by me): http://www.basicnetwork.net

I'd give it a try if I were you
