Greetings, little mortals, it's Mr. Hex speaking from the sunny (er... not today) beaches of La Serena, Chile. I remembered that Rel likes to write things on cybercafes, so this' my feeble try at that. *sips a Coke*

Anyways, I got this little project of mine (yes, *that* one) running flawlessly and smooth as cream on Win XP... without sound, obviously. So I looked for the almighty VDMS to "overcome what has probably been the most exasperating limitation of DOS boxes since Windows NT". To make the story short, the ga... er, the project ran as fast as before (maybe a little bit more jerky), but the controls suffered from severe lag -and when I say severe, it's SEVERE, dammit-. I fiddled with the parameters only to get results ranging from "unresponsive as hell" to "you hanged the system, asshole".

Well, the question is: is VDMS the best solution for XP? Because if that's so...

Ah, BTW, dual-booting, DosBox, LILO & stitch and all these junk are out of question.

On a side note, pity on you Rel. Now I know what's the *feeling* (on my wallet also) of these cybercafes... At least these guys have loads of webcams to play with. *ends the Coke*

Cheers from here, guys! Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll all night looong! Uuuh yeah! Aaaall niiiight looooong! All right! All night! Aaaall niiiight looooong! *goes away singing, fading in the horizon* Big Grin
Wow, do all of you have long hair in Chile? Big Grin
I've noticed that lag you talk about just in a few cases, for example with heavy sound engines in heavy PMode applications (my C/Allegro game, DOS version, JGMOD playing a 32 channel XM in the background) but I never had a problem with good ol' QB. What are you using? My proggies use DirectQB+QMidi for sound, is that your configuration? What are the computer specs?
