how can i make a icon in vb like the ones that apear in the title bar,i tried making a bitmap and saving it as .ico but it just says the value is incorrect
You need a special icon editor, because the icon format isn't the same as the bmp format. I don't know any good ones though...
IconArt is freeware. You have to click past a screen asking if you want to upgrade to their professional edition every time you use it, but the freeware version works okay. It is available at http://www.conware.org/ .

According to MSDN, you can indeed simply make a BMP and save it as ICO. However, make sure the size of the ICO are either 16, 24, 32 or 64. (Try 16 and 32 first). At least it works for me Wink

BMP is the same format as ICO. Try creating a 32x32 bmp and saving it as icon.ico. Then drag it on the desktop, to see the full size icon.
 Didn't know that... cool.
