have you tried using binary mode? I prefer it because it makes the file more difficult to be read.

Well, did you mean by that post that you dont like people viewing your code? It certainly seems that way, maybe I just have my wires crossed?
your wires are definitely crossed. What I meant was if he was trying to encrypt a file and then store it in ascii file format he could use the binary format which makes reading difficult.
