now my question is how to disable the pop-up that tells me about the expired subscription everytime I run my system.

It's not really a prob until you play a game using Zsnes and the sound gets crappy. :*(

Oh yeah, try playing Tales of Phantasia!!!!
Can't you redownload and reinstall it?
Why not uninstall and use AVG? It's free, resource friendly and best of all, nag free. Wink
If you uninstall it and remove all the files and registry entries that it leaves (all that "LiveReg" crap), you can then reinstall it and get another year's worth of updates.

(You might as well uninstall it anyway, because without updates an AV program is pretty much worthless.)
Can you still update it by downloading the virus definitions instead of using live update?
No.
The way plasma suggested is probably for the best. Or avast, but i dont really like any anti-virus programs, i cant disable 90% of em from loading on boot when i dont want them to.
I'm sure that the Norton Antivirus uninstall program will not uninstall the registry junk and the file junk that says rel has already used his subscription, if it is not an internet controlled subscription. If it isn't an internet controlled subscription, then one would need a very sharp eye to find that junk...
I've done it before; it's not that hard. You just search the registry and delete all keys related to "Norton", "Symantec" and "LiveReg"...then you do the same for files.

(This won't work with NAV 2004, though, because they have activation crap now...)

Ohhh!!!! This is great I got 2003!!!!

Problem: Can't see well with my monitor. :*( So I'll just uninstall it, delete some stuff related to Symantec, norton, livereg annd reinstall it?

And Rhia: I have seen AVG and it looks good!!! Just 7 MB and I only need about 6 diskettes to bring it home.

So Guys, if I uninstall the very slow Norton w/o doing something with my registry, can I install AVG?
Heh... well since the Norton Antivirus subscription lasts a year what I do is reformat my computer each year (I would do this anyway... it's nice to flush out the registry and other crap that starts collecting). This way, I can reinstall Norton and get my subscription back. Wink

Of course not everyone likes to reformat their computer that often (or at all if they can avoid it)....
