Is it just me or basicnetwork is down again? or dave is moving to another datacentre again? I've not been around for ~10days so I am unaware of anything thats been happening
I'm getting extremely agitated at people making note of this every little time it happens. If this keeps happening, I will take TBN down permanently.
We are not complaining at you nek, don't take it so personal...

I for one don't have you on msn so I don't know when you are online, it may be that you miss the downtime, and wouldn't it be good to know it was down?

If www.Novix.tk ever go down I would like people to be on me like bloodsuckers...

Threatening to take it down just because we complain is childish...

It's your site, if it is down people complain, you know why?.. Because we miss it, you should be happy that people notice it...
Your site is something that a lot of people visit (atleast enough to make it count) and you complain about it...

"bu'hu.. look at me, my site has a regular crew that miss it when it goes down.. That makes me agitated..."...

If you don't want to fix the downtime (I know it's hard) then just ignore it, my opinion is that you should be happy that someone even notice it's down.
I've been in contact with the data center and they keep on insisting that everything is OK. If they won't give me the straight scoop, what can I do about it? Absolutely nothing, which is why continually mentioning TBN's downtime doesn't help the situation any. Sad If these guys continue to tell me nothing's wrong when it's blatantly obvious that PLENTY is wrong, I'm going to move my server...AGAIN. I'm getting sick and tired of ending up in data centers that suck. I'm researching Global Compass at the moment...maybe we should have gone with them in the first place instead of Rackspace.
Yeah, like I said, it's not your fault it's down... and we all know that...

We are just telling you, as I (like I said) don't know when you are online, you could have missed the downtime...

And it's not something bad we are saying, we are just telling you the site's down..

ISP's and webhosts, don't we all love them...
Quote:Me: "My website doesent work"
Support: "That's because you have uploaded index.html to your own computer"
Me: "Err.... wut?"
Support: "Yes, you must upload it to your online acocunt for it to work"
Me: "Yeah, I freakin know that. I also know that I'm not browsing my own computer"
Support: "I'm sorry, we cant help you, upload it to your online acount or you can't access it from the internet."
Me (mad): "I KNOW!, I have uploaded it to my online account..."
Support: "Hmm... hang on... ohh..."
Me: "What"
Support: "It seems the user rights were improper, they were set so that only administrators (he actually said the whole word) could "see" it (And i swear he pronounced the quotation marks)"
Me: "Thank you, so it's working now?"
Support: "Yes, as soon as you upload index.html to your online account instead of your own computer"
Me: *Gives up. Ends call*
Welp, the problem isn't our data center...it's our admin staff...or should I say "LACK OF ADMIN STAFF"! They disappeared without a trace, leaving us down and a few other servers in the same room down too. WHT regulars are having a pretty good laugh about the whole situation right now, but I don't find it to be particularly funny at all. A lot of good people and legitimate businesses just got screwed over, and we're among them. In addition, we just sent out the monthly payment (which is quite high, I might add), and I doubt it will be refunded, so right now we're kinda screwed and there isn't a whole lot we can do about it either. TBN may never come back on, or if it does, it will be in a month's time or more. Or maybe this will get resolved and we'll get our investment back and will be able to get a proper admin staff for once at a proper data center that doesn't stand for this kind of BS. Until then, we can't do a thing.
I find my host never seems to go down; www.trcomputers.com
Although a word of warning; they have some things that may get on your nerve like emails have a tendancy not to go through, no dns control and cgi's out of bin must be pl's. Although its not mentioned does support a version of asp, I don't which though.

Another good host is www.rfhost.com (my personal favourite)
One thing a site on his server's does seem to go down about 8 every day allhough I don't think this is his fault judging from the way is often complains about a script error!

and www.r3gister.com - he hasn't got s*** support, I know the guy who runs it, and he's often on msn if you need him. (email about him about hosting) and the only time I've seen his hosting down was when his dedi's hd conveniently stopped working, fortunaly that hasn't happened again to him!
He's gotta point, though... I'm positive he's glad that you love his site, but I'm definitely sure it must feel like more of a hassle than a compliment when he's questioned every time his site is down... especially when it hasn't lasted so long...
jatos...we ARE the host. The only people who have access to the server are the crew that admin it (who were thankfully just replaced) and the security staff of the data center (who you don't look at funny if you want to retain all your teeth). The servers have been restored but I'm not quite sure if it's without some damage as now I'm getting the same old PHP header error that was popping up before I made the fixes to the system.

I am considering removing the front end of TBN completely and just leaving it as a forum, especially since no one really seems to use the main site anyways. But that is something that will be decided by all the TBN staff, as the site belongs to all of us, not just me.

You don't necessarily have to remove the front-end, just put some time into the main site aside from the forum and get some exclusive content and whatnot in there... Queer basic was really doing good, even for just one issue...
