I seem to have gotten som sort of worm the last few days that sends out mass spam emails. It doesn't seem to send out itself, just spam. And norton antivirus doesn't report anything. So i'm running zonelabs firewall now and i can't access any sort of pop email, becuase it will start to send out mass emails then.

It's strange becuase i never run any attachments that comes with emails or msn or anything else. I have no idea how i have gotten it, has any one else got this worm/trojan?
Very likely from some webpage you visited. Have you been surfing porno sites again? Big Grin j/k
Is your computer being used as a relay for spammers or something?
Yepp, it seems that way. And no, i don't accept the popup crap either.
someone on my family went on a site at about 2am in the morning once and after that we had no end of troubles with the computer, we had a virus and my dad who developed a realyl sad hooby of deleting any files taht shouldn't be on there. Woh Go Dad
Are you running XP or 2k? If you are, and your administrator password isn't set, or is set poorly, it could have gotten in through the default shares on winnt$, c$, d$ etc...

These viruses are getting sneakier. I got my first one in ten years only a few weeks ago.
Nope, of course i have an admin pass. This trojan/worm is much sneaker then other ones. It has gotten in by itself somehow.
You know, most people don't realize how easily those damn things can get in, even for a relatively secure machine...

(so is virus finally the established word? People bitched at me because apparantly they weren't viruses, but self-propogating worms....If you can explain to me the difference other than "this one is network, not file!!!", you'd be the first. Smile
