No No no! Rel never said that! He just said you should use the gradient based palettes if you want translucency to work! You dont have to use colours all in one row!

It depends on what you wanna do. To me, translucency effects in 8 bits look like crap, so that's why I never use them, hence I use small sub-palettes for each sprite or group of sprites when working in 8 bits.
Alrighty...I used 10 colors in this one. This time I just made an EXE with QB that loads the palette and displays the person (everything included...EXE, source, palette file, image).
Just run the EXE.

I'm having trouble drawing actual RPG-size characters - like, that one is 20x20. RPG-size is more like 15x15, usually smaller. :-?
