Hey everybody, my RPG that I was planning on making is finally getting up and ready to get strated on. I call it a mix sort of thing.... Part Text-Based and Part Graphics-Based. Essentially, it is going to be a text adventure type game but with some graphics thrown in there, like the picture of the 'evil guy' or something like that.
The battle system is going to be my own system that I have nearly perfected and with monster graphics. I guess if you want to think of the battles as Dragon Warrior type that would be good, the character is not in view, just the monster that you are fighting (I'm sure everyone's played Dragon Warrior, right!? Big Grin )

Yeah, so anyway, it would be boring because I am not a very good drawer so I added music with MIDI's into it by use of QMIDI. I am using Pixel Plus for the graphics, it is the easiest and best way that I have found yet. Thanks to Piptol's website for that one !

So anyway, the name of the game is

Mokli
Quest for the gems.

and I guess I just wanted to let everyone know that I was working on it, and if you want to design some enemies using PP256 that would be great since as I said before I can't draw worth a crud.

hey, good luck with this game! Always cool with text-based rpg's (although there's some gfx...) and midi-music is a feature that can be cool if u choose some nice tunes. Good luck!
Thanks! It's okay if I ue commercial type music in my game, right? It's not like it's gonna be published or anything. Yeah. I tried to use some music from TechnoMidi.com but a lot of them are not compable with QMIDI for some reason. There must be some parameters that have to be followed, I know the 8-character rule for the name of the midi, that I just figured out...

so UPDATE:

err, I just got done with the new game intro and the first town. I am going to try to implement a saving/loading system into it, but last time I tried it did not work too well. However, that is a ways off, I want to get going with the game first. Yup, so now it is all a matter of deciding how to do the overworld. I was thinking of something like the whole tutorial for moving a circle around the screen for the controls... and then having pictures and stuff for the castles. It looks pretty good in the long run, I think.....but I got's to get it going.
OK, so I finally got going... I now have:

NewGame 'cutscene' done
The first town done
- Shops, Inn, etc...
overworld screen 1 completed....
- its got a castle and some trees it's kinda weird
battle system 90% done
- its useable ... all I need to do is draw more bad guys and put them in some how, so it's an ongoing process but otherwise it is pretty nifty...
- A CHEAT SYSTEM!!!! that lets you do a bunch of stuff like give more gold etc... mostly for testing purposes.

that's about it. I counted all the code (because I AM INSANE!) and found that I have something like........ 2021 lines of code all said and done, but that is including all of the SUBS and Main Module and some of the SUBS I did not write, so.... yeah. ANYWAY, I am working on it and so far I have had only minor glitches.
I haven't worked on the game for awhile
I wanted to keep at it but I am faltering... but I have an idea for the thing that I do next: Implement Selling into the shops where the player can sell weapons/armor that he doesn't want/need anymore for 1/2 the price... it works out pretty good.

Also inside the stats screen an equipping section where the player can equip/deequip weapons and armor and soforth, but I haven't gotten around to it yet so anyways... yeah. Should have a screenshot sometime, if I fugured it out.

Wow I really slacked off... Anyway, I am starting to develop my own MIDI song so that has sort of taken away from the raw programming of my game. Not that anyone cares :x because my game is newbie quality. :x :x :x

See ya

Common, we care about your project Smile It's always funny to see other peoples games, no matter if it's a "newbie-production" or not.
I have not worked on my game lately. It is not my fault, though. One thing: I am hardly ever 'home' (where my computer is). Another thing... my computer decided that it didn't want to live anymore.... so it deleted itself.. (it said "Error loading Mouse.DRV Windows must be reinstalled) and kept shutting down. Yeah, so I TRIED reinstalling windows but it didn't work.... and then I had to FORMAt my entire hard drive ... I managed to save MOST of the things related to my game... but Pixel Plus was lost in the fray and I have not had time to re-download it (My programming computer does not have internet acess)

YEAH! So otherwise I'd say the game is about 0-2% complete. It's wonderful .......

Nova, we always learn a lot from our mistakes and our successes. Experience is very valuable, you know. [Image: smokin.gif]
