(Jack Layton is the leader of the NDP, the third largest federal party in Canada)
My scanner renders pencil shadows crappily, hence the smudges. On paper it looks better. I used a very crappy 2HB Papermate standard non-drawing school pencil. I also drew this guy from his leaflet that was sent to us. Of course I would never vote NDP. Go Green!
Here y'are, critiques please!
I think this is a major improvement over the first. Everything looks more real than in the first one. Probably with some more practice you could get a few more details that are still off
Ears
Eyes look crazy
Neck looks a tad thin
But still way better than I can do.
Something that I haven't told you on MSN:
It looks like you have begun to draw it directly. Do a diagram first: a circle then a crosshair. The eyes and ears are on the horizontal line, the nose on the vertical line.
nice! i only wish i could draw noses as nice as you do. a big improvement over the first. drats! sumojo beat me to the flaws.
Ha not too shaby. My eyes go like that :-? ask Oz. Although you might need to add that ever-bulging vien in Layton's forehead.
Maybe there should be a line to show where the chin is as it goes under the mouth...? Hmmm, it looks alright, even without that though.
They remind me of Newsweek's caricatures. :*)
Cool job!
Thanks everyone! My next drawing will incorporate all the suggestions. Nath: someone once told me to do that, but it never worked.

Yeah, and that little dainty smile and those hand gestures...
Not too shabby! Ears need to be bigger and he's a little cockeyed, but it's a major improvement... good stuff!
am i the only one noticing the missing 'left cheeck bone'?
