Yet another release of the oft-maligned Nietzsche SE. This release fixes tons of bugs, and re-introduces the fabulous music of the original.

1. I dont get any music.
2. I dont like to read through stuff - there should be a key to skip it.
3. Instead of making the user read you could've added the voice. But since I dont get any sound i dont know if you have already added it.
4. The gfx are cool. I like them

Hope we will see the next version with these improvements =)

The music isn't going to run in your Linux dosbox. It requires Windows.

It's an RPG, bonehead. You're SUPPOSED to read through stuff. It sets up the story. Tongue (/me whispers: "RPG virgin! RPG virgin!")

Considering SJ never planned on making another release of this game, something tells me he will not be making any more releases.

Look whose calling me a bonehead. You need not setup the story everytime you start the game. And besides its for the lazy arses like me who hate reading around in a game :rotfl:

It's an RPG, not a bedtime story. If you want a story read to you, download an audiobook.
It's ok if you feel like that. But I consider it as a presentation. Anyone who has done presentations would know that narration is always preferred over on screen text. Similarly an RPG with narration makes it 'sound' more lively. But thats just my thought, if the developer doesnt feel so he can exclude it :wink:

Frantic Journey isn't an RPG. Tongue Speech in action games is okay and even expected nowadays.

Speech in RPGs is traditionally saved for important scenes, if used at all. In addition, to be believable, you need good voice talents that would have to do dozens, if not hundreds, of lines. I attempted this with WOS and it just didn't work out because of the sheer number of voices it would have taken, then you have to deal with the sound quality of each individual sample...each one has to sound like it came from the same source, and unless you have access to a well-equipped studio with dozens of voice talents, you're not going to get the required quality. If you use compression (such as mp3 or ogg [which I was using for WOS]), then you have to also handle either pre-decoding into a buffer (takes time) or realtime decoding (takes more CPU power), which can throw off the balance of the game if not done correctly (sometimes even if done correctly). There's a million reasons why this isn't done in the indie scene. To sum it up: it's not worth the effort to put every line of dialogue in an RPG as a spoken part. Your game, even with compressed samples, is going to be massive. We're not talking about 20 or so samples like an action game...we're talking hundreds, possibly thousands, of lines of speech. Do any of you, as singular indie developers, have the kind of time and resources to pull off something like that?
