My uncle gave me a 30-year-old (from around 1975) fibreglass slalom skateboard. I don't do much skateboarding anymore, and my uncle told me that I could sell it if I wanted, so I think I will for some cash.
Problem is, I have no idea what it's worth. My uncle thinks that the trucks alone would be worth $70 (USD), but I'd like to know others' opinions. So...if any of you have any idea what this thing would be worth, please inform me.

Specifics:
Dark blue fibreglass deck, with "Turbo Carrera" written on it. Very flexible deck, I'm about 100 lbs and standing on it flexes down a half inch, maybe?
Dark red wheels, with "Turbo Pro" written on them on the outer sides.
Old-looking trucks with "California Slalom" written all over the place.
Bearings: I have no idea what kind, but all I know is that they're in terrific shape, considering their age. A good hard flick on the wheel sends them spinning smoothly for 10 seconds or so.

I took a bunch of pictures of them with my webcam. They are far from good quality pics, but they should be able to give you a good outline of what the board, trucks and wheels actually look like. Here you go:

The bottomside of the skateboard. It looks black but it's actually dark blue:

Top of the skateboard, with "Turbo Carrera" written on it. Again, dark blue:

Here's the top of the trucks, with "California Slalom" indented on them:

Profile-view of the trucks. They have a dark red plastic or rubber layer between them and the deck:

A picture of one of the wheels, pretty dark I'm afraid. They're very dark red:

Any idea, anyone? I know a person who really wants to buy it, so I want to give him a price.
you could try putting some light on the object before taking a pic . Anyway from what I could make out the skateboard looks really cool. Why dont you try and put it up at ebay for sale? If I were you I would put it up as an high value "antique" Big Grin.
I've seen 1960s boards on sale on eBay for $10. But those are run of the mill, popular brands. Big Grin I've asked three people, been referred to others, and can't find any mention of this board anywhere on the internet. Big Grin I'm hoping this is rare, hence skyrocketing it's value.

Yea its definitely very rare. I couldnt find a similar board on google or ebay Wink. Looks like you'll be rich Big Grin
Mmm-hmm, I've looked EVERYWHERE, but to no avail. I've even checked skateboard museums!
I certainly *hope* I'm rich - if it's this rare that nobody has one anywhere on the internet, I could even be looking at something upward of $1000 (I hope!). Big Grin
I'm going to take it to a skateboarding shop or museum in Toronto to get it appraised. Although it certainly looks like I'll be getting the mechanic's tools that I want, high quality!
And then, because I'm your best friend, you will give me some, right zack? .............. right? ....................... aww, come on, please!? PLEEASE?
What, money or mechanics' tools?
Why don't you just chuck it up on Ebay first, for the price you actually want, and then if it doesn't work out, do more searching.
absolutely not! get it appraised first! if you put stuff on sale without doing your homework, you could get seriously burned.
You could put it on ebay with a starting price of around $100 or so and then set the reserve price ridiculously high, like $1,000,000, so nobody will ever win the auction.
