Quote:I don't smoke....but I use snus regulary (started when I was 14). Snus is very common in Sweden and is more "popular" then smoking here (Finland and Norway also has a big amount of people that uses snus).

Hard to find any info in english but here's one site I found:
http://www.northerner.com/products/swm851.html

I wish that I never started but I know I never will stop...sadly...

It appears to be the same as chewing tobacco or snuff.

According to that site snus is a form of chewing tobacco. You probably know this already but chewing tobacco can give you mouth and throat cancer (not 100% sure on the second one because it's been so long since I took a health class).

If you want to stop it, probably the easiest way would be to slowly reduce the amount you use over a period of say a few weeks or a month or two until you are no longer using it.
I do not smoke. Never have, never will.
Do you want to be dependant on nicotine?

I think it's sad what the addiction does to a smoker... if they try to quit they get withdrawal symptoms and cravings. It's more than sad, it's pathetic.

I don't want that to happen to me.

amen, dude. Never gonna go near a cigarette. It's easy for me, because most of the people who smoke around my area are low lifes, drop outs, or general jackasses. So it has put me off from stage one.
Heh, I had this same post on rpg-dev a few months ago. Interesting.

Anyway, yeah, I smoke - I just started this september and I've kept a diary of my addiction, consumption, money I've spent on it and such. Its interesting seeing the effects it has on you. Incidently, it takes 15 years to get over the effects of smoking after quitting. Most people think I'm an idiot for doing this, and I know I am, but I don't beleive it (its a problem I get alot), so I keep on doing it. I will quit, and continue to document the addiction afterwards, because once your an addict you are always an addict and it will never be part of your past. I have reached the stage now when I actually don't want to stop any time soon, cause I enjoy it too much...

anyfuck, I felt I should reply here, seeing I asked myself

matt
That sounds like a very interesting study. Be sure to be as unbiased and fair as possible in your analysis. Be sure to quit. And be sure to link us to the documentation afterwards.

Btw never smoked never will.
I'm feeling a little bit attacked.

Do you really think I'm a bad guy for smoking? People, it's my disease. Respect me.
There there...cheer up nath. I wont "hate" you until you smoke near me

Quite true. A self-inflicted disease. But then so are a good number of diseases.

I don't remember much from my health book but I do remember the pictures doctors took of the lungs of smokers. Not a pretty site. I've also seen a video (shown in business class - who knows why) on people who had to have their "voice box" removed and had to learn how to talk all over again.
