Anyone know of a free configurable firewall?

I use Zone Alarm, which is fantastic, apart from when it comes to using the computer as an internet gateway, for LAN. Then, there is no choice but to disable the firewall, because the free version doesnt support Internet gateways.

And while I'm at it, my father wants to archive records of all his classical music (a big collection). Can anyone suggest good music archival software? (doesnt have to be free).
Tried Agnitum Outpost? I've only used it once before, but I think it's quite good. There are two versions; free or "pro".

Another firewall you might want to look at is Sygate Personal Firewall.

Hope one of those two support what you're looking for.

I'm using Zonelab in a computer that works as an internet gateway. I have two NICs, one for Internet, other to connect to the LAN. I just set ZoneAlarm in "trust mode" for the LAN NIC and in "internet mode" for the Internet NIC. It works neato.

It doesnt work for me, and ive tried setting the ips to trusted. So i went to the zone alarm website and found this topic http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/board...d=510#M510

Which says:
Quote:3) How do I get Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) work with free ZoneAlarm? The free version of ZoneAlarm does not support ICS. Your options are to set Internet Zone to Medium setting (on the ICS gateway machine only), or you can upgrade to ZoneAlarm Plus or Pro, which fully support ICS, allowing you to keep Internet Zone set to high.
Yes it does. Infact i have to comps with ICS set up and zonealarm.

Read the instructions, if you Firewall is set to HIGH you cant share, if it is set to medium you can.(the internet tab). I have had it set to medium and have never had problems from worms/trojans/hackers or anything. Heck i havnt formatted this computer in over 2 years.
I installed Outpost on some friends computers, they've not reported any problems with it. I've never used Zone Alarm myself but I understand that it can interfere with P2P downloading, that said I have no data to back that up and can't be certain of the correctness of that statement,

I did read them. I set the internet zone to medium, but It still didnt freaking work.

Also, thanks Urger and ShiftLynx, Ill keep outpost in mind if i still cant get ZA to work with my set up.
I use AtGuard, the best of the best.

Of course you need a proxy in the gateway computer to give internet to the LAN...
