since when did this whole damn community go awal and start doin freebasic? i just showed up one day, and there were two entire categories for it in the forums. the "QBasic" forums mind you. sure, it could be better than QB. but so is almost every other programming language out there.
if you wanna do freebasic, fine, do it. but you don't have to come here and take all the qbers away! simplify maaaaaaan!
I believe it was simply time to face reality...the only thing retaining QB all these years has been the QB community, not the compiler itself. Whether or not it's QB or FB, it's still the same people in the same place, discussing the same things for the same reasons. Nothing's changed but some of our coding styles.

Soon, when FB is ported to Linux, we can all abandon the ugly, crappy, shitty, not-working, bug-filled QB and Windows and all MS products for that matter, to go live in the happy world of Linux

And mech, stop whining, just learn it already, in-fact, there isnt even anything to learn =), I'm doing SDL now, I've never done any windows stuff bbefore, any less messing with pointers and stuff. But it's really easy once you get the hang of it (Which I havent quite yet

Let's face it, I don't use QB for anything serious since 2001. Remove FB from here and most big fishes will leave.
I didn't like QB for the sake for it, I liked it 'cause I like BASIC and it was a nice and easy BASIC port. Now I have FB, which is the same but works on nowadays computers.

I totally agree, FB is the new reality, face it or not, time to move on.
And yeah, community is what has kept it alive all these long years :wink: And now Qb can go to it's proudly earned vocation -now that FB is around
