Ok, in the edit profile thing, it says your avatars can be up to 80x80 in size.. yet, some people on this board have them higher, but not much higher... how can I get my avatar size to be larger?

Simple: use your own web space. The 80 x 80 limit is for avatars stored in this forum, not for external ones.
Don't forget that your site must support hot linking.
