You have to run each proggie at least 3 times and average the FPS. I'm trying to find out if 2 triangles are faster than 1 quad.

Sorry about the incompleteness of the proggies as I had little time to code this weekend.

You devil, wheres sdl.dll :p. Never provide the dll's do you :p.

results:
The triangle one ran at about 3-3.5 fps.
The quad one ran at about 4-6fps.
i get from 200 to 400 fps on gl_lacdscape3.exe

gl_landscape4.exe is around 300 to 400 fps

but the fram rate changes so much i can't really tell which is really faster.

oh ya my system spec's
ADM athlon 1.8hgz
around 400 megs of ram rounding up.
and radeon 9200 vedio card
Both run around 55 fps here.
AMD-K7 3000+
GeForce 3
512 MB-Ram
WinXP SP1
Both run at 104 FPS (they don't change, really.)

System specs:
Intel Celeron 3.2 GHz (nice and cheap, and the on-board cache takes this thing to 512 KB cache RAM)
256 MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti4200 w/ 128 MB RAM
Running Windows 2000 Professional SP4
i just redid the tests and i adveraging 500 fps on gl_landscape3.exe and 600 fps on gl_landscape4.exe

but both did spike up and down the lowest i have seen in both was 400 and highest at 800
If I keep the rendered image in view, the difference between the two programs is negligible. Both settle in at around 170 fps.

P4 1.8Ghz 256MB Ram
32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra
Win XP Pro
The first one ran at about 3 FPS, and the second at 2 FPS. Pentium II 350 mhz Sad . It probably is because of my video card since it does not even support most OpenGL programs.
Probably the trick to compare is not to move around, as the speed changes a lot depending on if there's something to render or not. Unfortunately you did'nt choose the same start viewpoint for both versions.

My results are 59 fps for Gl_landscape3 and 45 for Gl_landscape4, not moving at all.

Pentium 4 1,4- Windows 2000- NVidia TNT2 card here.
60fps for 3
55fps for 4

4 is around 10% slower, redid the test around 10 times. always the same numbers (or the same %)
