i was in my local library and happened to come across the computer books. they had quite the selection. C,C# C++, VB, HTML even some books on alogrithims. point of the story is: check you local library for free sources. hey you can even do it on line(at least for my local library.)
Yes, libraries are generally good places to borrow books. That's how I learned about programming before I had TEH INTARWEB. Wink
My library has nothing except html books. They can't even order in anything. Tongue
ask them to buy new books(idk how it really works). you do pay taxes for the library so they should have what you need. write a pation! start a loby! Rally for Code! RFC!!
I remember going to the nearest big library where I live years ago... I must have been 10 or 11. My brother and I were looking for books on these strange languages called Pascal and C++ that we had heard so much about from "Wicked Productions". Wink

Hehe. They didn't mean much to us then though. We sticked with QB.

Now I just download all of the tech books I want and any other info is usually around in tutorials.

My local library has a massive collection of programming books. A whole shelf.
My library is quite small, but they I can order anything that exists in any library in denmark, and they get it sent in a few days. Very fancy Smile. Online too yeah. I learned alot of my php (and earlier perl) that way.
i leanr better wiht a book in my hand then burning my eyes on reading it online.
I tried reading tutorials online. Only good if they are just a few pages and if I have the gamma, brightness and contrast way down low.
My local "free" library had no programming books. :*)
