I agree that dynamic sigs can go too far... they're mostly pointless and bandwidth hogs - don't give me any crap about caching. You at least have to download them once. I don't particularly care for my own sake, as I'm on a cable connection for now, but I was a dial-up user for a long time, and I know how it feels to wait for pointless images to load. Everything in moderation.

My point is that there is a lot more than can be extracted using fairly simple PHP commands about the user, and just because it isn't being shown on there doesn't mean that it isn't being taken.
Anyway, I guess my view on this seems pretty pointless to the higher powers, so screw it, the thread is over.
To me the "IP showers" are just annoying. I feel like facing the guys and telling them "yeah, you know how to use $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];, and?".

Dynamic signatures can be annoying, some are; some aren't.
aetherfox: The only way to prevent the issues you are raising about privacy would be to not allow any images, dynamic signatures can't be blocked without blocking/stopping all images. Anyone can easily set a 1x1 pixel transparent sig image and no one will know it even exists and you can't tell its a php script because its very easy set permissions to run image files as php scripts. So I'm not quite sure what you want done?

As for IP sigs. I agree with Na_th_an on that. Their stupid and now I know that people can find my IP like that....ummm...welll...you know... :lol:
OMG, I didnt know my sig would raise such an issue. I mean I had my old dynamic sig for a long time and no one objected :roll: Anyway, Aetherfox if any image annoys you a lot then you can just block the server hosting the image (I know you can do that atleast in mozilla, dunno about ff or ie). Anyway, I found Z!re's avatar quite annoying but I decided to ignore it. I couldnt even block it because it was uploaded to QBN's server so blocking the images from this server would effectively block all images from the server.
If you're worried about your privacy then use a premium proxy service to hide your IP and stuff
P.S.: For those math freaks, my sig is 17.26KB and it will take aproximately 2-3 seconds to load for a 56Ker
It's a fucking waste of space and it's annoying as hell. And I know there are quite a few who agree with me ON THAT ASPECT.
And 17.26 kb is disgraceful for something that small and ugly.
