Hey, I'm really really interested in learning optimization skills, 2D effects, and 3D graphics. I know my way around QB, I can program an RPG engine and all that (yet too lazy to complete one).

Basically what I'm looking for are some people who are on IM programs frequently and would like to teach me their trade.

I know a lot of you will just say "Learn from the code!" but I still haven't learned trig in school yet, and I need techniques explained for me to understand a routine completely.

Gimme da gurus! heh :bounce:
Me too!!! LOL
I don't write games in QB, but, if you want, and if you have MSN Messenger, add me to your contact list: vlad_man80@hotmail.com

Of course, I wouldn't exactly call myself a guru, but I might be able to help with non-graphics related QB problems.
Thanks, you've been added Smile
You people *passed* trig?
A stupider and more turgid kind of mathematics I cannot think of. I like programming because I can understand language (and metalanguage) well, not to do a load of freaky physics stuff... of course, mathematics is OK... it's necessary, that's part of programming, but this farfetched stuff is beyond me until I have it explained. I have looked at code, and much of it was in too much of a mess to understand (not that I have not been guilty of the sin of messy & unindented code, but...) or I was too lazy to learn. I can understand why someone would want to have it explained... while I have never taken a great interest in programming 3D games, I would greatly appreciate it if someone posted a link to some kind of tutorial explaining trig in relation to 3D BASIC programming... perhaps using analogies relating to language (this is not necessary, I doubt there are any out there like that, but you can't blame a guy for trying...).

OK, OK, so the main reason I posted this was to see how my new 'Avatar' thingy looks, but my above remarks/questions etc. still stand.
It is something we have to acept: if you wanna code 3D gfx and physics, you need 3d maths. There is no turnaround...

Sad, but true Wink

And, of course, in any action game you _NEED_ physics.
3D isn't real.

It's actually a bit like a 2D plane wrapping around your skin and circular views around your eyes and spherical hearing..
