Another thing we don't want to see, we don't want to see advertising for a game that we soon learn is either non existant or nowhere as good as the author is saying it is. *cough*xeko*cough*

Well said Adosorken! I completely agree with you.

Gustav, Perhaps the graphics sucked to you, but I heard quite a few people compilmenting Moo on its graphics when the first demo was released.

Rattrapmax6, if you want to see some of Nek's legendary arguing, just search for threads that have Nek and Adiguin both in them: chances are you'll find some good arguments by Nek.

My issues with the rules:

1. Why are 3d and text not allowed? It's like saying you don't want zelda type games allowed in a rpg contest because you only want to see dragon warrior-like games. Text games are perfectly fine: Check out Oopa Oopa. Wink

2. Restricting the amount of characters allowed in a party is just... stupid. If someone wants to raise an army in their game, let them! It could make the game more interesting. E.g. A person has 100 soldiers in their army, and during battles, you get to see those hundred soldier take on someone elses army when you encounter an enemy. Furthermore, you can control them ala RTS style.

3. Why must sprites HAVE to leave footprints when it rains? Suppose someone isn't quite able to do such a thing yet. It would mean they can't submit their shiny new rpg because their characters don't leave footprints.

4. Music can be premade but graphics can't? Is there a specific reason?
Barok--

When I said five members max I ment only five people could work on a single entry.

Sprites must leave foot prints in the dirt because that is the challenge of this competition. It's what makes it unique, seperates it from any other competition.

Good music can take forever to make, all graphics can easily be done in one month for an RPG.

ah.

If THAT is the unique challenge, then why not just have a particles contest? That's all foot prints are really: they are created, handled, then killed when the time runs out. Particles contest would be much more interesting, yes. who wants to watch footprints? j/k.
Gustav, you may feel insulted by what I said, but Z!re felt very insulted by what YOU said. You cannot judge a game before it is released, it makes you look like a bigot and a snob. So let me ask you this...how does it feel to be insulted based on a minor detail? Next time...think before you speak. And you can think what you want about me...it's not going to change my mind or keep me up at night worrying. You got off to a bad start with your comment about moorpg, it's something I'm looking very forward to, so now you've gotta deal with the rebuttal. You made your bed...now lie in it. Tongue

barok: I can understand the footprints thing, but at the same time...it's an unnecessary eyecandy that could easily be a compo killer. The whole spring theme is interesting but RPGDX has done it before and they pretty much decided to move away from season-based compos, last I remembered. So no new ground is being broken here...not that compos have to break new ground or anything, but it's always good to see a FRESH challenge rather than something recycled. As far as the other rules...meh...I have my opinions on them, but they're just opinions. Isometric RPGs just plain rock though so you know where I'm going on THAT rule. Big Grin

And Gustav: the reason I said that you are unfit to do this is because of your bias. Your rules focus on graphical prowess and that's because of your bias towards graphics. That makes you unfit for a genre where graphics play a secondary role. If you'd like to discuss this further, do it via PM so this thread doesn't become a flame-fest.

I tried to be polite about it I even said that... and as far as I'm concerned Z!re doesn't use this board anymore so someone must have told her. I didn't think anyone would and if they did then it no longer has anything to do with me.
Quote:One RPG that is concidered good by some and awful by others doesn't seem to cut it in my opinion.
I doubt too many people have an opinion about MOo.. it's not released.
Quote:Z!re's RPG sucks...
Oh, so you HAVE played it? Tell me, how was it? What did you think of the NPC AI? The inventory system? The level up system? The stat points system? The PvP system? Oh wait.. it's still not released..
Quote:Heh, Rattrapmax6, don't get between me and ado please.
Ya, dont make posts in the PUBLIC TOPIC IN THE PUBLIC FORUM! Don't you know anything Rattrap!?.. silly you!!!11
Quote:All graphics can easily be done in one month for an RPG.
Yes, ofcourse they can.. :rotfl: (Fun fact: MOo has been in developement for almost a year, and you still think the gfx suck, even though you cant possibly have seen it, but thats not the point)

Quote:I have never played moorpg so cannot pass judgement on it.
*hug* You're so clever =), see that everyone? (Especially you Gustav) Thats how it's done, you do not judge things that do not exist.

I hereby demand Gustav gets a warning for insulting me, without reason, and without provocation.
I also request he gets a warning for talking crap about products he doesent know squat about.

This does not mean i'm coming back as active poster, it just means that Gustav is an idiot, and doesent know squat.
Take care everyone, have fun coding, or flaming Big Grin

*dissapears into the shadowy mists, out of sight*
There's an old saying, Gustav..."it's better to shut your mouth and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". Can you guess which path you're going down right now? Big Grin

Smile Not for every one,. GFX is a art, and not all ppl are good at art,.. so that eliminates a few there... And to be clear, your oppinions are your oppinions, but being bullheaded and lashing at Ado for bluntly saying your rules are sctrict... or I think thats what his post was on, heh, baroks was for sure..

And oh how you said the wrong thing with that "keep out of it",. I'm a very nice dude, but I hold my stance in forums (have not yet had to here, but I have on forums other than QB and proggraming in the past)..

Thanks barok, I'll look it up, beats hearing other ppl note on Ado's postings...
Z!re said she wasn't using this forum anymore thats why I said her RPG sucked. If I had known I wouldn't have made it sound so rude.

Z!re : I do appoligize for insulting your RPG. No I havn't played it but I strongly believe that graphics are the soul of an RPG and I "personally" don't find your graphics appealing. However, from a more professional point of view, the game is quite good.

ado : You're simply looking for a fight and I've nothing more to say to you.
Z!re: here here!!!

Ado: yeah, Rpgdx DID steer away from season's based compos. But yeah, fresh challenges are nice. I guess the challenge with fresh challenges is making one without scaring everyone away.
