I've recently started listening to some Norweigen Black Metal, and I'm fu cking hooked. Now it's taken me four years to get a Punk band togethere where I live, and I don't fancy doing the same thing all over again, so I was wondering anyone with a drumkit wanna work on say, three songs, where we just record ourselves, send mp3's half way across the world and mix together some songs?

I've got three songs written lyrically, and will be able to come up with some simple riffs on guitar, and structures can be sorted out over time... So, lets see a show of hands?

Well, I don't play drums, the best I could do is sequence realistic-sounding samples-- But if you find someone, I could mix/etc the songs for you guys. That's about all I can offer, though. Tongue
I play drums, but I hate metal. Sorry.
I haven't touched a drumkit in years Big Grin but I can sequence as well. I've done a bit of black metal drum sequencing in the vein of Dark Throne and Emperor, but of course my main technique was always more in the vein of good ole Mortician (200+ bpm double kick). Smile What kind of songs are you writing? What's the main "thrust" of your music, what kind of message are you trying to convey? That kind of info would help out a lot. Big Grin
Woops, it seems my reply yesterday never submitted itself :???:

Anyway, basic idea is bleak and barren dead worlds. Inhuman, Inactive, dead dead dead... (Bare in mind I've been listening to Black Metal for, Ohh, four days now, so I'm gonna come off a fu cking wiener), Cold and Still, 'The void of creation', Godless, thoughtless....

I got the idea by putting myself in my own total perspective vortex [pat yourself on the back if you know what I'm talking about]...

As far as song style goes, I'd be looking for INCREDABLY FAST, constant, allmost rythmicaly hipnotising (god, I'm original, don't ya think?), with little similarities to other branches of metal (no pauses, stops, few cymbol hits)... If I could get a template like that to record some guitar over, then I'd send it back to you and you could be free to fuck it up however you want...

Anyway, there's the idea I had...

Hmm, I might be interested in that, actually-- The idea of a kinda constant, near-hypnotic musical thing done in metal has kinda intrigued me recently as well, actually, ever since hearing this one song that does a similar thing... I dunno, maybe anyone who's interested could post a kinda 'audition'? I'd be up for that. I dunno if you'd be open to sequenced drums, but if you are it looks like you might get some interest (including me)
If you need inspiration for some particularly fast black metal pieces, check out "Kathaarian Life Code" by Dark Throne or "Ye Entrancemperium" by Emperor. For interesting themes along these lines, check out anything by Ancient, Lord Belial, or Dissection.
