GDMGames, an answer: Absolutely not.
I've writted something like three games, each one crappier than the last.
So I gave up game programming, and started to study Assembly language.
Programming just got a hell of a lot more interesting. Harder too, but more challenging.
I still do QB, but I don't program games.

Games are nice to code because they're very rewarding. It's making something that will cause other people to be entertained. I still use QB, although not for games any more... I couldn't be bothered setting it up to use a lib when the same things are available for pascal and C and don't require command-line arguments.
