Right, this is the thread to rant/rave/suggest things for my site...

I'll focus in on a good Q, Hows the BG and Layout looking? What could use work on?

No comments on Link Town,. I havn't taking time to research sites to put there, and thus havn't updated it from BMP,. so modem users should't venture there, nothing there atm anyway.. lol

On that note, if you got a site you'd may like to see in link town, pass it to me, I'll rate it w/ building style and size... then mabe, finialy update that town..

Some Cheats for the center would also be welcome... FB/QB games only, more so FB..

Yea, the backgroud is alot better now, I can actually read the text.
The text on the "button" isn't readable. It's too small and too colored! You should really change the shadow color from grey to something else...

Are you on my FB or QB site? I'm taking bout my FB site, I made its buttons bigger and more readable, or tried... lol... But my QB site, I need to over haul those...
Glad to see you are making a wb page! Smile

So then what i think about yours: had you ever heard about antialising? Not from 3D cards, by hand! Smile It would make the drawn texts looking much better especially with Windows XP wich antialises the regular fonts itself. I do not know if you use fixed background since i am using Mozilla, but if you do keep in mind what i said on my page's topic: it hurts a little on the page's performance.

At the colors i think the contrast is higher than it should be. Using darker colors or making the borders smoother (i wanted to mean here to give a brighter background for brighter areas, or do the same thing i did to Notepad's icon on my index page) would not hurt. The gray shadow not really looks good, possibly if it was made darker then it would be better.

If you are creating the graphic with Gimp (i am guessing it from the background of the buttons) i might be able to help you out in a few things (i am doing my page with it too, version 1.2).
@ Cheetah: Heh, its been there awhile...

Hmm... no I never heard of antialising.. and I do my gfx by hand. The BG is fixed, I know only enough HTML to get the job done, and thats it. I haven't ventured to learn any more atm,. would love to do flash, but my comp sucks, and the systems cost to much for my lil site.. >_<

Gray shadow? you mean that one on the "x.t.r.GRAPHICS News"? Its ment to be a illusion, like its floating there under the perpous to make you a lil dizzy, not look good, lol, but if anymore complian, I might just change it.. My whole theme color is bright flames, and Iceblue textures.. so I'd be, myself, if-fy on toning that part down.. (btw, Iceblue is flame red inverted, , really cool.. you can take my logo, and paste it in a editor with a negative opption. and make xtr blue, and FB site red.. lol)

Gimp? Like to know what that is.. I use MS Paint, then other editors to make them PNGs. The logo was typed in normal font, then I carefully layed that Flame texture on "x.t.r.GRAPHICS" & the Iceblue on "FreeBasic Site".. The buttons BG was swapped and modified from a pic of a staily steel trashcan I found online... font on the buttons was typed and the texture made in the same fashion as the logo..

Thanks for the suggestions, somemore will be also welcome..

EDIT: :o I missed my terms, I mean the BG is fixed to the text,.. or for better words moves as you scroll.. I don't know how to fix it to the BG and let the text pass over... lol,.. sorry for that mix up..
The tag you wanted for fixed background is BGPROPETIES="FIXED" as a parameter of BODY. It worked with massive slowdown on Ms.IE 5.0, and Opera 7.0, but failed with Mozilla 1.1 (approx. equal to Netscape 7.0).

Antialising is something what you can see in my new avatar too: it means for example when you have a white line across a black screen then at it edges where the pixels "jump" it uses gray dots to make it looking smoother.

I guessed Gimp since possibly the trashcan you found was drawn using it's gradients: it reminded me to one built - in. It is free software mostly for Linux, but Windows version exists too (Search "Gimp for Windows"). It is possible to do so many things with it that you will never use up all of it Smile - for example i tricked out my background with it too (Visit the intro page of the HTML tutorial to see an another demonstration).

With MSPaint do not afraid of changing the palette: i used the software for many things, but it is true that the default palette is really poor. Save the palettes for later uses.
Smile Heh, was that simple... *tries it on offline site* Thanks, hmm, didn't hamper preformance here.. And it loads every thing off my F.T.P.. :???: ..

Ah, right.. is it just for black & white? or does Antialising work good with all colors?

Heh, that gimp sounds cool.. ^_^ hehe, I'll look into it!!

Palettes? I change them all the time.... ??? or you on something else?

Edit.. Smile heh, I edited the F.t.p. it linked up-to something.. weird.. lol
I meant performance in the actual displaying of the page, not the downloading, if you disunderstood (or me - here after midnight it is not easy to translate).

Antialising is of course not only for BW images! You can draw any colored line over any colored bg, and it is almost sure that there are colors between that two what can be used to make the effect!

I meant at palettes changing the color itself. Double - clicking on it, then not selecting from the palette there but making it on your own from RGB components.
Yeah, I didn't mean that either, just noting that my offline site was mapped thru all my online files.. .. but It seemed fine (No slowdown, but my site is pure HTML {No Php, Javascript, ect}, might that be the case?), course I was using IE.. heh, I dunno.... I like it, and might just test it online.. if to many have a prob, I can always remove it..

Right, hmm,. have-to look into that..

Right, I know that.. [Double-Click] + [Any Color on Work palette] > [Click] + [Make Custom Color] > {either [Manualy insert RGB] or [Use that big multi-color field w/ Mouse (Which automaticaly sets the RGB for disiered color)]} Like that...

btw, your translating right well.. ^_^ I find only a few miss placed things, but I can figure out what you mean.. ^_-
