Okay, fellas, here's the deal: As evidenced, I don't have time to be managing my own format, sf.net's cvs has been giving me crap and I can't write to it anymore, and tehre's a lot of people here bugging for a wiki-style documentation. SO, here's what we need to do:

  1. Jointly vote on a single wiki to work on
  2. Organize how the documents are going to be written on this wiki
  3. Rewrite existing documents to fit this wiki
  4. Style this wiki
  5. Continue writing the documentation
    [/list:o]

Aetherfox suggested mediawiki, so I vote that we go with that. On this thread is a confidance vote: if more than five people say 'no', we're not going with it and I'd like to hear suggestions if that's not the plan. Once this is decided, I'll make a new thread about organizing the docs, and another for styling the docs.
Ok, I think it's less important where the documentation project is run, and more so that it _is_ run, and open to all, Since Mediawiki was indicated above I've set up the page at http://freebasic.wikicities.com

I've not done anything at all with the page pending the outcome of this article. Like I said in the other topic, I think we need to consolidate our seperate efforts into one.
Right. I'm ready to use your wiki. That is what the vote is for, just a sort of "i'm in" for the others.

Steps 1-3 should be done very soon.
E-mail me some of the docs (urger at lenzelectricanddata.com) you want formated and I'll work on those you send tommorow. Hopefully we can port to wiki format in a few days flat.
I am up for using whoever's system, just so long as it is working/moving. :-)

May I add to the list of things to do?

Appoint a manager. Someone who has a firm understanding of the overall structure of the project who can appoint (and hand hold if needed) tasks to people. If we are going to work together on this we should have some direction. Jofers seems to be the leading voice in the documentation movement so it seems nature for him to take this (any seconds).

Getting a "here stupid, this is how you add to the project" tutorial would be nice too. :bounce:

If we are going to use wikicities I will see about killing the riters site... one free server is as good as another I guess. :-)

EDITED:
Although one thing that I liked about the Riters' site was the fact that one could downlod the whole Wiki at one time. This would make it possible for someone to write a parser to convert it to whatever format you wished. Does the wikicities have a similar tool?
Seconded on Jofers, but I'll give anyone who was running a previous FB doc project sysop status as soon as they ask for it.

Being written as we speak.
I don't think using wikicities is a good idea. From what I've heard, their service is dodgy at best. If worst comes to worst, I'll be happy to host it on my domain, probably http://fbdoc.apeshell.net (don't click it, it doesn't exist).

I also just suggested Mediawiki as something that I personally like. By all means, if someone knows better, then tell me. Then again, if it's good enough for the all-mighty wikipedia, then it's good for us.

As long as urger is fine, I'll start uploading Mediawiki to that domain. If people are fine with wikicities, then that'll be it.
I vote communism. There were also about 10 people on the last project. I don't personally care for the position, as I'm already responsible for so many other projects, I wouldn't spend the time necessary to spearhead this. I'm looking to set something up, make sure it gets done right, and get out. This is take two.

FBwiki uses Mediawiki Big Grin. After you suggested it I took a look at it and set it up.
If someone has server space then I'd say go with that over a free server. My original idea was to host it on free server and then if it took off look at getting a server for it.
