Every time I try to download a large file, lets say 700 - 800MB the download just hangs at around 60MB. I'm using FireFox and have tried internet explorer, could it have anything to do with my antivirus - Nortan Internet Security?
Could be...perhaps it stops you from download files bigger than XX amo0unt of megs.
Norton isn't the problem.
Are you using a wireless card? A brief disconnect kills downloads most of the time for me.
I am using a wireless card but I'm not being disconnected, well I don't think so.
It can disconnect for <1 sec and you lose your download ... use a wired connection if possible.

You could also find a torrent - bittorrent allows you to reconnect a download.

What are you trying to download? Linux? A game demo?
I'm trying to download a game and I am now using BitTorrent and it seems to be working. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like movies at 600-700mb.

If you're using a wireless card with router, sometimes when torrenting, the speeds can get so high you it screws the router. It used to happen to me. I'd have to restart the router and modem.
I'm trying to download Americas Army 2.4 and it's a massive file. I'm having no problems with speed hear, as mine is averageing about 37KB download.
Yep...you did have the disconnection problem.
I've only had it with windows - I never lose my connection with Gentoo Linux (Even w/ ndiswrapper using the same drivers as windows does)

Still, it's always a good idea to wire in with downloads that will take over 30 minutes or so.
