Okay, i've worked myself into a corner here folks. I've made this homecoming video of our town for SCN. I thought it would be a nice touch to put in some of the songs that the people sang at the homecoming in the background, but unfortunately I realized that I couldn't do it, as alot of the songs that were sung are under copyright. Now i'm in a huge jam. I'm in need of a few songs for the homecoming video, and I know there are a few musicians here who write their own songs.

Now, what i'm asking is that if anyone who has written their own song and recorded it would be willing to let me use it in this video. Normally I'd go around town to people whom I know write their own songs and ask them, but time is running critically short and the time it would take for me to get permission and record the songs is unacceptable. If you don't mind, I'd like to put some of your songs in the video. I need about 10-15 minutes of music, as some of the songs I had were okay to put in. I'm afraid you wouldn't get money for this, so if you don't want to, don't bother with me.

If you'd help me, please email me telling me that I have your permission to use your song. I'd also need the song. I can be contacted at marshallw*at*gmail dot com. the *at* is actually @.

EDIT: I'm a bit confused...? Do you just want the song as in the tablature or do you need an actual recording? I can record but you probably won't want it, because I have a bad mic and really crappy amp.

I also don't see why you can't put other people's music in your video and give them credit it in the end. I've seen plenty other people use other people's music in their video without granted permission, just crediting them in the end. Just as long as you do not make money off the video, I think it's quite legal.

I tried doing that, but the songs they sang were copyrighted by other artists. This is going on television for our province, so I can't put on copyrighted music.

And yes, i'm looking for recordings. Perhaps guitar songs with singing in it? I know Chaos and a few other people have some songs like that. (hint hint )

Oh, you're television province...I understand..

Well in that case, you probably will want to have good sound for the broadcast..My mic is medium quality at best..

And I can't sing worth crap anyway..

i've still got that tahotel song. it's the only recording i have on any computer at the moment thats decent quality. i'll mail it to you, lemme know what you think.

you could check some songs at http://ratatoskr.dragonhill.cc acoustic guitar + drums + voice, some are fast some are slow. i got around 20 more songs but i don't want to put the link here ( partly bad performances ). use it at your own risk.

hey, it sounds great! I'll have to email rattrap and ask for written permission. Think you could send me an email with permission marzec? Just something simple like, "I give marshall Wilson permission to use my music in his videos.
