I think FB isn't a manace for QuickBasic programmers. People who like programming using QB like me will do that furthers. FB is a great new option but it hasn't got the flair of QB. Wink I think both compilers can exist parallel and peacefully... :wink: No members are going to run away just because of FreeBasic.

I remember using QB, I remember the suggestions to try FB.... I never saw them as: "You must use FB!!!!! The world will end if you don't!!!!!!!" : They were, and are simply suggestions to a newer more flexible system....

And more so, it wasn't a let down, or turn away when I finial tried FB, to me its tho I still code in QB, but with a few more tricks... All in all its the same as:

QWBasic -> QB1.1 - QB4.5 --- QB7.1

All steps up to something better, FB is just the next step.... :king:
People stopped at QB 4.5, for no reason really..

Afraid of change, too lazy, unwilling, happy with what they got.. who knows..

All I know is that they go insane if you suggest they use FB, or QB7.1..

Honestly man, who gives a crap what compiler you use. It's just details, and unless you have a really nive product it will be crap no matter what compiler you use mmkey? I have yet to see anything of comercial quality in either qb nor fb. So enough.
the word satire and sarcasm rings a bell, no?

Really, you shouldn't really give a crap about what compiler you use or suggest..... We can suggest FB all day long, what ever you chose is your choice... :wink: ... Don't get ticked cause we have an oppinion also... Tongue

No doubt you've never seen nor heard of these products, but I personally developed several systems in Quickbasic which were indeed of commercial quality and value. One was a Bills Purchase system in 1990 for a major bank which handled $70,000,000 dollars in transactions daily. The other was an inventory system in 2001 for a $10,000,000 dollar dairy operation.

These professional systems ran for years. I left the bank at the end of 1992, and it was still running. The dairy system was shut down in early 2005 when the owner retired and sold all the cows.

I'm sure that there are other professional systems around which have been developed in QB.
