It's common knowledge that onboard modem/lan/soundcard/graphics cards etc might use up the precious UMB in which EMS maps memory, making it impossible to use ems memory. But what i also recently discovered is that the support for legalcy usb mouse and keyboard also uses the UMB area. That means for those who haven't been able to get ems to work even though you turn off the onboard sound card, lan etc there's a chance that it might work if you disable legalcy usb mouse and keyboard support in the bios. Just thought i'd share that.
I hate to say it, but what you've just posted is also common knowledge. Wink It's really too bad that not all bios's allow you to disable legacy usb support, like my computer...[/code]
thought it might be.
EMSmagic (by Plaz) is almost finished.
Yeah, I noticed that too! Big Grin
That won't really help, as it has no coherency.
Edit: I was wrong, it is apparently coherent (mot of the time), at the cost of two page copies per map.
Well.. whaddayaknow.. turning of all BIOS USB support made EMS work.. ofcourse it broke more things than it's worth.. Sad
That's what you get for using enboard crap. Personally i have pci lan/sb/video etc. I don't need to use the onboard crap. And legalcy usb mouse and keyboard thing isn't really needed unless you're running a mouse based dos application in a pure dos session, that excludes windows dos boxes.
