I was thinking about doing similar (free obviously), but with a command & conquer game. 1. How can I record the game? 2. If I could record the game, how can I add sound to it and play it outside of the game?

1. You could get something like Fraps, though that probably won't work for an old-school 2d game like CnC. If you have a video card with an output that you can connect to a VCR or camcorder, you could tape it and then record it via some video input mechanism (TV tuner card, etc.)

2. At this point, you'll have a regular video file (AVI or whatnot) that you can edit like any other video and play in regular media players.

I think he was talking about Renegade the 3d shooter command & conquer game. Im sure if you google you might find a recorder for that.

Actually I was leaning more towards Generals, since they have the "SAVE REPLAY" option, but Renegade doesn't sound like a bad idea either... I was hoping for maybe a program you can use to add sound to video files.

Originally, I was going to use Flash to do this, but then I'd have to find screenshots of each individual unit and all of their movements, then trace them(individually). Then I'd also have to get backgrounds or make them rather. I'd basically need a team of people to do this, which I don't have. So, I'm looking for an easier way....unless you guys have Flash or know someone who does...

It's too bad I have no idea what a TV tuner card is, how much they cost, how to install it, or where to find one.

Well, I got another idea. I know you can record videogames for the consoles, so I do that instead, but I don't know how I'd add voice to it and such....

Does anyone know if a microphone would fit into the sound input port on the back of a VCR or TV if it has the ports? Still trying to find ways to add sound.

Do you know the white cord that goes from a game system to the vcr or tv which adds sound to the game? Well, Could I put a microphone cord in there and use that as my sound?

what are you trying to do? Sound or video? Are you going from your comp to your vcr or vice-versa?

I was going to do it with the computer, but I wouldn't know how to replace the sound of the game, plus I don't know many games that you can save replays for on the computer. With the TV, I can record it on video tape. So I figured I'd try to hook the mic to the TV. Could that work?
