Today, Paz implemented thumbnails into the photo album view. Now when looking at a photo album listing, it shows all the thumbnails of the photos included rather than just links for it. This feature hasn't been directly set into FileAnchor so that it comes up automatically, but you can still play and see it.

Here's an example from my Zoo album: http://fileanchor.com/12-at

Adding the "t" at the end of the album's link sets it to thumbnail mode. The plan is for later this week that it checks to see that all files in the album are photos and then does this automatically.

Also the "download all files" link works now. If you go to your album view you can click that and it will grab all the files from the album and place them into the folder you designate on your computer.

Paz's working on a script that Rhican wrote that works with RAR files similar to the way ZIP files work. Once completed and in working order, any person will be able to view the directory structure in a rar and the files inside.

That's all I have for now.
Awesome! Popular science (or was it pcmag?) ran this one article about sites that hosted images then recommended all these different sites. I couldn't help but noticing they all had huge restrictions and you usually had to pay to use the service. All offered more service if you were a payed subscriber. Looking through it, I was thinking that Fileanchor is easily on par with any of those jokers, if not superior. Not to mention it's free. Smile And how many hosting sites have their own firefox extension? Wink

...phpBB mod, soon to be Windows Desktop-to-FileAnchor program and Firefox sidebar.

We're also looking into making a widget for the mac fans, but it's still just on the idea board.

EDIT: And as a side update, as if people care, last month we had 500,000 hits and are on par for 1 million this month (with bandwidth to be close to 40-50 gigs). This means you guys have been spreading the word about us and we are very greatful for this.
You guys should license to Microsoft, and..er.. have Microsoft do free hosting and give you money. They'd also want some implementation of their software in your site I'm guessing...

EDIT: This way Microsoft would be supporting FreeBasic, too, a potential competitor. Don't tell them though..
Hehe, I bet you could get microsoft to sponsor you as well. ^^ But they wouldnt like the FF extention. Ooh, how about google?

Good work on the updates Sumo and Paz, next how about a flikr type slideshow?

Yahoo and Google are both already in the image game with Flickr (Yahoo) and Picasa (Google).

Possible, but last I checked, Flickr was all flash, so it would be a bit easier for them to throw things like that together.
First off, I've been suggesting FileAnchor to all my friends in the NYC area for thier filehosting needs. It really is the best host site out there today.

But I do have a question, is it possible to see how many views an image has had?

View the page the image is on.

To do this take the original URL
Code:
http://fileanchor.com/<numberhere>-rnocount

and remove the "-rnocount" from it

Code:
http://fileanchor.com/<numberhere>

On this page you will get an information bar that lists the name, hits and size of the image (or file).

For files, remove the "-d" from the end to get to that page.

Here's a list of the different extensions at the end of urls:
Code:
-rnocount           --    Gives the raw form of the file
-r                  --    Same as rnocount
-d                  --    Download the file
-o                  --    View the options/links page for the file/image
-pnocount           --    Opens in FileAnchor window
-p                  --    Same as pnocount

There's probably more that I can't think of right now, but if I remember ones I forgot later, I'll post them.
Thanks Big Grin, missed that before.
but dont forget, the rnocount and pnocount extentions dont add any hits onto the image.
