Yepp this release has sound module with infinite channels, and samples can be either loaded to conv mem or ems. And the format and sample rate of samples don't have to be the same as the output nor other samples. Conversion is done realtime.
This is just a demo, so you don't have to actually compile and link anything. We still have one more minor bug to fix before we release it.

Oh and i'll add a mod player to build 0.22.

anyway, here it is http://dotnet.zext.net/dl.php?filereq=uglsnd

If you're using nt/2k/xp you'll have to use VDM Sound and enable ems. The former two don't have legalcy sound support and the later one has it but it suxs.
excellent!! i'm glad to see ugl is getting worked on (and to great effect)!! qb is really at a loss for good sound stuff, and the demo works great.
Nice features. Are you planning to include some kind of library builder?

If you end making a MP3 player for QB in plain DOS, you'll become my new personal hero. [Image: biglaugh.gif]

Good thing that unlimited channel support. Very good thing.
Can you release it as a separate module? Ds4qb4 is really slow. We might use it. :*)
Right, but make an option that lets you call disable sound so that calling the sound routines will be harmless... heh, ive bombed my computer so many times using dos sound routines it's not funny any more.

Hehe... he'd have to get a license from Frauenhaufer-Somethingorother to do that legally... you have to pay royalties, AFAIK.

I dont really think it is an issue. It's true it's patented, just dont sell it and you wont have problems, i dont think winamp is shelling a dollar a download, it's more if you charge for your software. FMOD has decoders, do you think they get charged, or DSQB++ ? It's the game that will be using the sound, not the library so he's got no problems and:

Quote:No license fees are due if less than 5 000 copies of a particular game title are distributed.
Oh... That would be cool, tho.
Just the tables an mp3 player is uses are like 200 kb, and about 100 kb for the code. 300 kb already. This is why noone ever made a mp3 player for real mode where you only have 640 kb of memory.

But a mod/xm player on the other hand, now that's handy.

And make an option to turn it off? It's not a game is it? It's up to the programmer to make an option for using/not using sound.
