ok, i dont have the cure to cancer, but.... for the sake of my argument, we'll say i do

ok, i have the cure for cancer, and i wanna share it... lets say also that sinse the govenment can make more $$ off of treating cancer than curing it.. they have made that type of information illegal, kinda like a copywright or something

ok, back on topic, i wanna share it, and make it available for a high speed download for an indefinate period of time, what should i do, here's a list of options that i've thought of

1.make a torrent, and offer unlimited bandwidth toward that torrent

2.share it through a p2p program such as emule or limewire (with unlimited bandwidth)

3.put the files on my webserver, and make them publicly available

4.put the files on my webserver, and make them hidden


i was leaning more toward option 1 or option 3, i'd say 1 because then its not only me who has the info, and it cant be snuffed out as quickly, but the downside is, the type of info i'm wanting to share isnt porn, so theres a good chance that the info wont get to popular

and as of option 3, i could put the file up on my server, but then the origin of the file is my house, on my server, and if they come looking for somebody, it will most likely be me... but hte upside to option 3 is i could offer extremely high speed, and dont have to leav some torrent or p2p software running on my server in addition to my webserver software


well, what do you think? if you have any other ideas, please let me know

What illegal things are you trying to share?

well, not exactly, i did say that it was me trying to share the material

and i'm not hiding the fact that the material may be illegal

the only thing i havent said is what the material is exactly, and weather or not i'm already sharing it... and i can answer one of those already... no, i'm not sharing it currently....

If it's illegal and you are the source of it, you'll be the one committing the crime. So beware.

But for the sake of the topic, if the data is useful to many people, torrent is the best way. You cant really shutdown a torrent. Even if the tracker goes, usually peers are still connectable. Its like the idea of trying to shutdown the internet. You just cant.

P2P, maybe. But quite a number are clogged with rubbish these days, and you cant always give someone a link direct to p2p data.

With torrents there's no source, and it's legal to download, atleast in most countries.. (not in sweden mind you)

In short, if you want to be stealthy, and make the file/information available to as many people as possible, torrents are the way to go.. as they have no cenralized distribution of the file that can be shut down.


However, all filesharing is illegal over P2P networks unless you use a legal network, there are a few, iD uses one of those..

And mind you, what I donwnload is not precisely the last Shakira hit. I tend to download some *ahem* obscure and hard to find stuff
