Always keep at least 1/4 tank of gas, otherwise, being an old car, it will suck up sediment (junk) from the almost empty gas tank, and foul up your gas filter, gas line, and even the gas pump. This just happened to my son's old car.

In addition, it's a good idea to always have at least 1/4 tank of gas in case you get rear-ended. God forbid, but if this happens when the tank is empty, the gases explode like a bomb. With a good amount of gas, it won't explode, just maybe spill out.
