I have done quite a lot of testing of programs between both FB and QB. I have read the documentation for each of the later versions, and after a discussion with an unnamed member of this forum, I have come to the following conclusion:

- FreeBasic is not 100% QB compatible, nor will it ever be.
- FreeBasic is slowly eradicating all remnants of QB as it evolves.
- FreeBasic's subtle and ultimate goal is a slow and painful death to what it was created from.
- FreeBasic is designed to be a slow transition from QB.

Flame me if you will. This is how I see it. And if this is what FB is going to be, then I will no longer use it. HOWEVER - should the final version of FB be, in fact, 100% QB compatible, that is a different story.

Clarification, please. I am sure there are a few of the minority members out there who want to know the truth.

Maybe I am getting tired?

Seeing as you're so negative, I thought I'd bring up the positive sides of FB:
- FreeBasic is not 100% QB compatible, nor will it ever be.
- FreeBasic is slowly eradicating all remnants of QB as it evolves.
- FreeBasic's subtle and ultimate goal is a slow and painful death to what it was created from.

Well it seems I must be getting tired. But I for some reason do not wish to completely let go of a dead language. The platform, yes. But perhaps all those unsupported commands which are now DEAD QB commands, could they not be simply ignored? Or emulated? what about all those wicked QB games I have that I cannot port because of unsupported commands?

What commands - and how are you unable to port them?
I think you are missing my point. Or perhaps I am not explaining what I personally would like to see. All the old commands supported, and the new ones!

@styler: Call me lazy, but here is how compatible I think it should be: open a QB source and run it in FB, regardless of the commands.

Impossible, as they are old 16bit commands, or unneeded faked event commands.
You dont need any of them anymore.

You're purely whining because you dont like FB.
FB isnt here to replace QB, FB is QB's successor, it's as simple as that. Noone is forcing you to use it. But everything is a whole lot easier using FB than it is using QB.
You know as well as I do from a previous conversation months ago that it's not that I "don't like" FreeBasic. In fact, I like it. But I want more. Whining, not. Making a statement, yes.

I don't see the difference here. If you want to grab the source, feel free and implement those QB commands you're wanting, because - and I'm guessing - you're the only one who wants them.
