Anonymous

why don't the aussies here tell all the yankees what "vegemite" is

every aussie chick i talkto is amazed that like 98% of america has no idea what vegemite is... haha
lol, yeah oops was a misspelling of "high". dont know how i missed it even though i checked through my post several times for errors. thankx for spotting it there cha0s. fixing it now.
vegemite is..black...good on toast. want more do you want to know?

oh and it's strong stuff so dont smother it on to you're toast, its not jam or something similar that is best when slathered on, a light spread will do the trick!
Vegimite? Ugh.... Never really liked the taste of it...
I like marmite (or yeast extract spread, as my generic cheapo version is called)

I think the question of liking this or not could easily command its own thread..
Marmite and Vegemite are both made from reconsituted Devil Feces.

Marmite is the Kiwi version (New Zealand) and tastes way better than Vegemite. Good for vitamin B intake too.

Nah. Promite, the el-cheapo version here is made of Devil feces ;-).
You are all wrong.

Vegemite is best on toast lathered on with heaps of butter or margarine. Marmite is crap. ProMite is a completely different spread and tastes more like chocolate. There's one that Dick Smith released called AussieMite. I have not tasted it yet, despite it being out for years. He had released this because the US bought Kraft Foods Ltd.

Vegemite has it's own unique taste that's hard to describe. After eating it, it leaves you wanting more because of the tingling it does to the back of your mouth and tongue.

The fact that 98% of Americans haven't heard of it doesn't surprise me. Everyone elsewhere in the world also that have indeed tried it throw up when it hits their tatsebuds...

...I wonder why? I find it sweet! Smile

That also reminds me, one American said to me: "I don't like your peanut butter. It's black and tastes horrible!" I replied telling her that was Vegemite, and that our peanut butter actually is made from peanuts.

>anarky - New flavour! anarkyMite!
